It took awhile, but the Star Wars prequels are now considered cool. Will Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull get the same critical re-evaluation? It hasn’t happened yet, and maybe it shouldn’t considering the film features a scene where Shia LaBeouf swings through the jungle with a bunch of CGI monkeys, but… what was I talking about again? Oh yeah, the Indiana Jones movie with the aliens.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull writer David Koepp recently appeared on the Script Apart podcast, where he discussed the decision to add extra-terrestrials to the Indy canon. “I was never happy with the idea [of the aliens]. When I came on, I tried to convince [Spielberg and co-writer George Lucas] to change it. I had this other idea. They didn’t want to change it,” he said.
Probably? LOL.
But the frozen monkey brains were OK?
i knew this image was coming XD
Perfect.😂
I don’t remember Aliens.
Maybe they erased my memory?
I’m thinking the refrigerator didn’t help either.
Shia LaBeouf?
And whoever cast Shia Lebouef as a greaser tough guy should be fired, blacklisted and keel hauled.
The whole movie was a mistake.
The reason we liked the first one was because of the historical and spiritual significance of a very real archaeological treasure, the Ark of the Covenant, although dramatic license was in play. God’s power triumphing over evil never gets old.
When they resorted to aliens, that wasn’t nearly as interesting for real archaeological story-telling.
the only good scene was when Indy said “I like Ike”. That was it.
and the third one also with historical Christian reference was the Cup of Christ..
“he chose poorly”
Are you saying my nuclear blast refrigerator shelter is a bad idea?
I just got home and the wife and kids are manniquins - I think they followed me home from the department store.
But then Anne Francis was a mannequin in The Twilight Zone so....
Wait, what...?
“Star Wars prequels are now considered cool.”
You have GOT to be baracking me.
I feel like I’m the only one on the planet that loved that scene. It reminded me of a lot of cheesy 50s and 60s sci fi that I love.
I don’t think “Kingdom” was as terrible as people claim ... it does have two scenes that are really cringeworthy though ... the stupid “Tarzan” / fencing duel and that whole waterfall sequence.
I have no idea what to expect with this new one coming out ... from what I’ve read, it’s going to be woke and horrible.
“But the frozen monkey brains were OK?”
They were CHILLED! Not frozen, CHILLED! :-P
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was such a memorable movie that I don’t even recall there was an alien part to it.
