My best friend and great girl dog is off to a better place. This sweet rescue lab mix was struck with a very aggressive Lymphoma. Her suffering was mercifully short and we saw her off this afternoon. She was diagnosed last Friday and we had the weekend to be with her and enjoy her company. She was really my wife's dog at heart. When we went to pick a rescue she immediately ran to my wife and wouldn't leave her side the whole time we looked over the dogs so of course she came home with us. She truly loved the family and we helped her have a wonderful dog life with free range on our acreage. Never a moments' issue. We are grateful she blessed us with her love and we miss her beautiful, loving, silly, fun presence. God speed Kellie. Thank all you Freepers for allowing me this vanity post.

Sorry. Do you know which type of Lymphoma?
Was it Mycosis fungoides /T helper cells or was it Hodgkin lymphoma? (more rare others)
Hodgkin lymphoma is most common i think. Though I want to know if it was Mycosis fungoides which causes a rash on the skin.

Animal loss for some people can be worse then a relative that dies. Good luck

So sorry for your loss. I’ve been there quite a few times in my 68 years and it never gets easier. I deliberately waited a year to get another dog after we lost our cattle dog Hoshi to cancer of the liver in 2013. I just wanted to honor her memory by not rushing out to get a replacement dog. Plus I wanted to finish mourning her death because she was a tough act to follow. You’ll know when it’s time.
