My best friend and great girl dog is off to a better place. This sweet rescue lab mix was struck with a very aggressive Lymphoma. Her suffering was mercifully short and we saw her off this afternoon. She was diagnosed last Friday and we had the weekend to be with her and enjoy her company. She was really my wife's dog at heart. When we went to pick a rescue she immediately ran to my wife and wouldn't leave her side the whole time we looked over the dogs so of course she came home with us. She truly loved the family and we helped her have a wonderful dog life with free range on our acreage. Never a moments' issue. We are grateful she blessed us with her love and we miss her beautiful, loving, silly, fun presence. God speed Kellie. Thank all you Freepers for allowing me this vanity post.

So very sorry for your loss. Man...they really are family aren’t they? Give yourself time to grieve and then find another furbaby rescue. That’s what Kelly would want you to do because that’s what you did for her. Prayers up for you VTenigma and your wife.

Rescues are the best. I have two Pittie-something mixes and they were both dumped after having litters. So sweet and hilarious. Thanks for posting.

Yeah... If my lab mix were to ever lose her appetite, it would foretell something serious. She will eat almost anything, and is always very grateful and ready for more.

Losing a long-time pet is almost as bad as losing a child. Remember, all dogs go to heaven.
That made my screen go all blurry - she knew how much you loved her and she trusted you. Our time with them goes by too fast, but our memories of the great times we shared last our whole lives.
You bet. We dog lovers understand and most of us have been through it too many times. It’s worth it though for the time we have with them. I do hope we can be united with our doggie family in the afterlife. I want to believe it’s possible.
