Obama is an anti-colonialist. Unfortunately he, and his fellow travelers, have so distorted our history that many people believe that we were/are a colonial power. Instead we are just like all the colonies in Africa that finally rejected their colonizing overlords, even when it took a Revolution. Unlike most former African colonies, we have taken almost 250 years for government corruption to increase to such a high level that our self-governance is threatened.

39 years! That’s wonderful. I never thought about it before but I wonder if conservatives have more long-term marriages than liberals.
Probably, but I wouldn't put money on it. I was out yesterday with two liberal couples. Their marriages have lasted as long as mine.
In talking with the women, we all admitted that there are times we are glad to have the bed all to ourselves at times, it isn't awful when we individually travel to something we are interested in and leave the spouse behind, and perhaps we're just too lazy to get a divorce. We also hit on the idea that you "put up with" the other person. We just forebear with one another.
Congratulations on a long life, well-lived. Congratulations on achieving 39 years of marriage. That is wonderful!
