EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut – Two teens are dead after they forced their way into a home last week in East Hartford, Connecticut.
Police identified the intruders as 16-year-old Isaiah Jose Lopez of Hartford and 15-year-old Isaiah Miguel Nevarez of Meriden.
According to the Hartford Courant, the two allegedly entered the home and physically attacked the resident who had a handgun and shot them both, police said Friday. The handgun is legally registered to the resident, police said.
Police said both teens were rushed to nearby hospitals where they were pronounced dead.
Police said the teens went into the home and physically attacked the resident, who was armed with a handgun and fired.
The resident suffered minor injuries in the attack. The gun was registered to the resident and he is cooperating with police, officials said.
“As of this time the only weapon recovered on the scene was the homeowners,” said Officer Marc Caruso of the East Hartford Police Department.
Police described the incident as a “targeted home invasion” but are still trying to determine what led up to it.
“It appears as though the homeowner had no knowledge of his attackers,” Caruso said. “We’re looking into several possibilities. The detectives are tracking down leads at this time,” he said.
“We’re treating this as a home invasion type incident where two males came into the home. And it appears to be a case of self-defense at this time, where the homeowner was a legal owner of the firearm,” Caruso said.
Officials told WTNH that they believe the alleged home invasion was targeted, although the circumstances leading up to the incident remained unclear Friday. The gun used in the shooting was registered to the homeowner, who is cooperating with authorities, WTIC reported.
Hartford Public Schools released a statement regarding the teens’ deaths:
On Thursday, June 16, 2022, we were informed of the deaths of two former Hartford Public School students. This is an unfortunate and tragic incident, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of members of our Hartford Public Schools community. We are prepared to provide proper support and resources for students and staff affected by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with our former students’ families, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
Hopefully they never got to pass on their bad pendejo genes.
How you say...”stupid” in Spanish.
Good for you Mr School District. My thoughts are with the intended victims of these two pissant criminals.
These tragic deaths could have been avoided with more stringent gun control laws.
Alexandria Occasio-Cortes. Oh, wait, you probably meant the Spanish language equivalent of stupid, not the dictionary illustration.
Exactly. Sounds like the school guy thinks the invaders were the victims.
Lol!
The economist in me wants to calculate the society benefit of putting two would be career criminals in the ground.
I love a happy ending.
And midnight futbol…
The gun was registered to the resident and he is cooperating with police, officials said.
where the homeowner was a legal owner of the firearm
The gun used in the shooting was registered to the homeowner, who is cooperating with authorities, WTIC reported.
April McAbee seems unduely concerned that her readers understand that the firearm used in home defense was legal - almost as much as the other facts of the story - when in fact the weapon's legal status has no bearing on the story.
She has an obsession.
Teenagers are generally stupid. I’m sorry these two made such stupid choices before they had brains enough to understand reality.
The rumor is the homeowner had a daughter that was dating one of these fools. The father tried to stop the relationship and the boyfriend was going to force the issue. Apparently dad got his way.
The school district press release says “former” students.
“Former” used because they are now dead?
Or “former” used because they dropped out?
You, Sir....have won the internet for the day. Well done!
It sounds like they thought that after invading America from across the border and the government telling them that they had the right to invade America, they thought that the government approved of them invading the homes of Americans. Sorry amigo. The Comanchero days have passed.
The right to self defense is absolute. The state doesn’t grant it, and the state cannot take it away.
Sympathy for the families and friends of the dead intruders is understandable, but they did it to themselves by the very fact of breaking in and threatening.
Looks like the Hartford Public Schools produced two criminals who got themselves dead. Perhaps they should stop teaching victimhood as a profession and instead teach how to respect the rights of others. But they won’t.
Really? How about, they wanted free stuff.
15 and 16 year old drop outs. Gang Bangers.
