I think there's a lot to appreciate and respect about Portnoy, he has great instincts about a lot of things. This is not one of them. Portnoy is in his 40s, but he still has the same mentality a lot of guys have in their 20s. Those guys see pregnancy as a threat to be fended off. They assiduously avoid meaningful thought about the subject by saying those things should be left up to the woman, thinking that this mentality is going to help keep them on the right side of women so they can keep up with the casual sex and hookups.

Some day Dave is going to wise up and see how much of his life was spent selfishly pursuing kid stuff instead of starting a family and having his own children grow, discover, and pursue those things along with him, and how much could have been so much better if he wised up ten years ago.

He's gonna realize that if he had a kid in his thirties, he could still have been young enough to smoke cigars at the races with him and keep up with him, and it would have been so much more satisfying than trying to keep his Cadre of boys around him for that long.

Surprised and disappointed to hear him say this. It sounds like he has no understanding of the Constitution or of this ruling. This ruling does not ban abortion, nor does it overturn any liberal abortion law. It leaves the issue to the individual states. Even then, it does not necessarily preclude legal challenges to some abortion restrictions.

Unless and until an individual understands and acknowledges that more than one human life is at stake with every pregnancy, they will proceed under the assumption that abortion is not a matter of civic or governmental concern, and will do so often to the point of vulgar absurdity as we are witnessing.
