Concerns raised over high number of ballots rejected in special primary election (Alaska)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaska’s first all mail-in election is drawing criticism for an abnormally high number of ballots that have been rejected by the Division of Elections. A majority of the rejected ballots are coming from rural Alaska.

Ballots for the special primary election to fill the late Rep. Don Young’s seat had to be postmarked by June 11, but election officials are still counting incoming ballots. Data released Friday, June 17, shows several areas with unusually high rejection rates.

In House District 38 which includes the city of Bethel and communities along the Kuskokwim River, 374 of the 2,174 ballots received were rejected for a rejection rate of rate of 17.2%. House District 39 that includes the city of Nome, the Bering Straits and Yukon River Delta regions had 289 of the 2,013 ballots rejected for a rejection rate of 14.3%

In House District 40 that represents the cities of Utqiagvik and Kotzebue and communities in the Arctic Circle, 199 of the 1,649 ballots received were rejected for a rejection rate of 12.06 %. In Anchorage’s House District 19 that includes the Mountain View neighborhood, 191 of the 2,080 ballots received were rejected, making for a rejection rate of 9.1%.

“You’re seeing areas that are low income, areas that are high Native high populations with these extraordinarily high rejection rates,” said Sen. Bill Wielechowski, one of a handful of legislators asking the Division of Elections to look into what happened.

The group Native Peoples Action is among those calling for changes in the ballot counting process as a response to the disproportionately high rejection rates from Native voters.

“It’s unacceptable,” said Native Peoples Action Policy Director Jackie Arnaciar Boyer. “I mean, thousands of Alaskans voices aren’t being heard. The core of our democracy is our vote."

Wielechowski agreed that a lack of witness signatures was probably responsible for many ballots being rejected. “I think there was just a lot of confusion by people about whether or not they actually needed it."

Have an election stolen. Then you'll git it.

In other words, they stopped a stolen election and now the democrats are “concerned” because they were not allowed to steal an election.

I have concerns 81 million votes were cast for Plugs the Pedophile by only about 56 million voters. I’m such a silly goose.

My wife and I both received absentee/mail in ballots. Everybody we know That are registered to vote got them, they were not requested! We destroyed ours and voted in person. Yes we live in Alaska…

One would think that if the leftists are so concerned in getting fake ballots through, they could at least hire better help to ensure they’re filled out properly according to the law and submitted ON-TIME. They want to cheat, and they aren’t even will to go the distance.... :0)

Alaska has both RCV and RCV-enabled voting machines.

I suspect they’ve been having elections stolen for quite a while now.

Who says that the ballots rejected were fake ballots? They probably weren’t. Fake ones would be harder to spot, I’ll betcha.

That’s a point. Even still, there are legally required instructions to complete for each ballot. Sign and date them, get them in and post-marked before the deadline and other nit-picky things like matching signatures between ballots and registrations.... All that pesky stuff Democrats don’t want to deal with.

Even if all of the “voting” is honest, it is still all left in the hands of the Post Office. This is asking for fraud.

This mail-in balloting bullshit is so damned third-world. Except for unavoidable reasons, voting should be done in person.. on Election Day.

Yeah, and the purple thumb that worked so well in the Iraqi elections should be used everywhere in the U. S. Dead people have a difficult time arising to get their thumb dyed.

Now I've lived around these Indians for 30 years and luv them to death; wish us white people practiced their anti abortion system of adopting kids out to relatives when a young girl got pregnant.

That being said, me thinks they just didn't fill the ballots out properly; why they were rejected. Have any of you ever lived in a village?

Couple years back when Lisa promised the Indians all the gold they could eat for voting her way; all the villages set up election offices, all ballots were filled out by one member who could read & write. System functioned. FAS is typically 70% in villages. They had a hard time filling out ballots.

Democrats have such an issue with jumping through hoops to validate your right to vote. However, a gun purchase under the 2nd Amendment is another issue.

The solution is simple...
Go to the polls on election day and cast your ballot.
Problem solved.

I’m sorry, but there SHOULD be a large number of mail-in ballots rejected in ANY election. If the signatures don’t reasonably match, if the postmark is too late, if the ballot doesn’t arrive on time, if the ballot is unreadable, OUT SHE GOES.

You don’t like it? VOTE IN PERSON!

Every honest person with an IQ above double digits is concerned over the stolen 2020 election. Unfortunately both State and Federal governments are now run by people variously known as Leftists, Democrats, Assistant Democrats, Socialists, and/or Communists. And regardless of what they’re called they have one thing in common: All of them are rabid haters of our Constitutional Republic.
