(I posted that thing—to CTH—someone posted here about Russia and the bio labs in Nicaragua. Thanks to that person. I forget who you are.)
I think that it is well worth reminding ourselves that Russia is not the USSR. The Communist Party there – as here – is a minority party that will never again regain control.
In Ukraine, Russia finally realized that her legitimate(!) national security interests were never going to be protected by diplomacy: the “Minsk agreements” were worthless. Ukranians in the west were opening artillery fire on Russian-speaking Ukranians in the east, and they are still doing so today.
The people doing the fighting there are real Nazis. And Russia today celebrates “Victory Day” as a national holiday – victory over the Nazis – having paid by far the greatest price in blood for victory both in their West and in their East. Russians still proudly hold up photographs of relatives who died in that war, and every family has at least one. Russia will never forget, nor forgive.
Russia hasn’t suddenly turned into the mythical belligerent of the Cold War days, and it never actually waged any “war of agression” against any of its former allies. (Although a foolish Winston Churchill post-WW2 wanted to declare war against them!) It didn’t set out to “conquer Ukraine,” although that would have been far easier for them to do than the limited military operation they are now pursuing. This action is something that Ukraine provoked, and refused to address diplomatically.

By this point damn near everyone has had Covid. So why are people getting it two, three, four or more times, frequently just a few weeks apart and nearly all if not all of those who are having that happen took the jabs? Gee, I wonder why? Ever hear of a thing called “OAS”? Maybe you should have listened to folks like me who predicted this might happen. Or perhaps you should have paid attention to my flagging of the other problem before the mass-jabbing started, which was that we had evidence you were likely to not build “N” protein recognition (which is the part of the virus that doesn’t change materially) if you took the jabs.
I get it. Nobody wants to admit they were full of crap, especially when it might mean something really bad is coming. Like what happened to both Justin Bieber and his wife.
The Biebers are not the only ones. The multiple re-infection list is so long among politicians and celebrities you can’t even count it anymore. Never mind the young people dropping like flies of things that almost never get young people. Sure, it does happen that young people “thud” from time to time; I knew someone who fell over from a congenital heart defect he didn’t know he had in his early 30s, and he was the jock’s jock too. But when that happens, at least historically, they always go look for the cause at autopsy and in basically every case find it too.
That’s not being done now, is it? Nope.

There are 18 senators currently sitting who were elected in or before 2002. Six are women, 12 are men. The men are, in no particular order:
Grassley, Schumer, Shelby, Carper, Crapo, Durbin, McConnell, Inhofe, Wyden, Reed, Cornyn and Leahy.
There’s nothing to suggest that women can’t be similarly compromised and the 6 female senators elected in or before 2002 are:
Feinstein, Collins, Stabenow, Murray, Cantwell and Murkowski.
Republicans need to force some amendments, even using the filibuster, to give relief to Americans: Reverse Brandon's EOs which declared war on fossil fuels, restart the XL pipeline, cut red tape for drilling leases and restarting closed refineries. Support domestic manufacture of agricultural fertilizer....that's a start.
Shutting down the southern border wall is more costly that completing it. By not completing it, it also tanked the electronic monitoring that is needed. Finish the wall. Force Mayorkas and Garland to enforce the actual immigration laws...all of them, and honor all the court orders...all of them!
We have to get something out of the deal.
