View comments A mother has told of her mid-air terror after her teenage daughter blacked out and suffered an allergic reaction at 30,000 feet on a British Airways when a passenger opened a packet of peanuts on board.
Joanna Jones, 39, was flying to London from Antigua when her 14-year-old daughter Poppy needed oxygen and two EpiPen shots during the nightmare eight-hour flight after suffering a severe reaction to the nuts.
As Poppy's condition worsened, a quick-thinking nurse on board dashed to help - while the captain considered making an emergency landing.
Eventually the pilot landed the plane safely at Gatwick and Poppy was rushed to hospital.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Joanna said: ’It was a nightmare for all of us and I really thought she might die.

so there are peanut free flights...maybe the guy was not aware before he started chowing down? He was 10 rows up.

If she is that severely affected, then she needs to take precautions. She shouldn’t be able tl demand that everyone cater to her allergy. I had a friend who was so allergic to eggs that if he went to a reateraunt where they cooked something on a griddle after cooking eggs, and a piece somehow got into his food, he ended up in the hospital. He ahd tk learn to modify his behavior in order to protect gimself, and it didn’t include demanding that everyone change their eating and food preparation habits.

Announcements are made repeatedly. The flight crew could have directed him to stop eating and had security meet him for not following their instructions.

Agreed. But let’s say the doubters are correct. Peanut guy is still a piece of garbage. A peanut snack can wait. If someone tells you that your peanuts might possibly 1% chance hurt someone, put your damn peanuts away. They’ll keep.
Folks do have rights. The Bill of Rights lists them. But eating your peanuts immediately regardless of the health of others...nope, that’s not in there.
I wonder the same thing. As kids, we would have starved to death without our PB&J sandwiches. Nobody was allergic to peanuts.
I am a retired pilot for Delta, back when they weren’t ‘woke’ and that nonsense you just blew a fuse over tells me what is wrong with airlines and our woke society today!

Yeah but if the request is made not to eat them on a flight, you can be a decent human being and not eat them. Its really not that difficult.
Exactly. Folks with allergies like,that now carry around epi pens for emergencies. Back,then not so much.

Poppy is the Problem, not the peanuts.
Move sweet Poppy into a Plastic Bubble so she doesn’t annoy the rest of the paying passengers.
How about just not being a dick and not eating your f*&%ing peanuts for a few hours?
