SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The ball was moving, the shots were falling and the arena was rocking in a very familiar third quarter for the Golden State Warriors.
Then came the fourth quarter and a surprising collapse by the more experienced team as the Warriors dropped a rare Game 1 of a playoff series under coach Steve Kerr, losing the opener of the NBA Finals 120-108 to the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.
The Warriors turned a 12-point lead after three quarters into an 12-point loss in a shocking turnaround that silenced a boisterous crowd that had been celebrating Golden State’s return to the Finals after a two-year absence.
Boston made its first seven 3-pointers of the quarter and ran away, leading to chants of “Let's Go Celtics!” in the closing seconds in a half-empty arena. The Warriors scored just 16 points in the fourth quarter after a 38-point explosion in the third had put them seemingly in control.
The meltdown left the Warriors complaining to officials and searching for answers after their first home loss in these playoffs after opening with nine straight wins.
It was the biggest blown lead after three quarters of an NBA Finals game in 30 years as the experienced Warriors fell apart down the stretch instead of a Celtics team filled with Finals newcomers

Any day the Warriors lose is a good day, even if it’s to the Celtics.
That effort gives a bad name to collapse.
Been a devoted Celtics’ fan for over 50 years and waited 12 years for them to return to the Finals.
Such a valiant team effort to overcome that dismal third quarter and achieve the status of becoming the first team to trail by double digits and then emerge victorious by a double digit margin!!!
Will be cheering them on to win three more games and raise Banner 18 from the rafters at TD Garden!!

I tried to watch the game but after about two - three minutes of the first quarter I grew very tired and disgusted. It seemed that the game announcers were in a contest to see who could say “Steph” and/or “Curry” more times as if there were no other players on the floor. If there is/was/will be a person more ego-driven than that ass Curry then I would be surprised. However, as usual, it is partly the media’s fault for his ego by constantly saying that he may be the second-coming.
As an aside, Klay Thompson is a better all-around player and pure shooter than the egomaniac.
Of course the whole mask thing has been ridiculous, but insofar as larger droplets are the only thing they’ve really a hope of stopping, maybe that’s less ridiculous than the over-the-nose approach.
In that case people who wear a mask and then wear their mask under their nose then breathe out of their nose, causing small snot droplets to land on the outside of their mask and walk around like this. Then they touch their snotty mask and then proceed to touch things. It is disgusting. Just get rid of the mask.

Agreed the masks are bad and never should have been introduced. (But people can at least get oxygen with their noses not covered.)
