RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Part One: The Road To War – For years, from Mali to Afghanistan, I have worked for peace and risked my life for it. It is therefore not a question of justifying war, but of understanding what led us to it. [….]

Let’s try to examine the roots of the [Ukrainian] conflict. ---------------------- (Cathi: This is the best, most thorough, least biased explanation from an expert on the current Ukrainian, Russian conflict that I have read.)

“In the north, the Chernobyl power plant was occupied immediately to prevent acts of sabotage. The images of Ukrainian and Russian soldiers guarding the plant together are of course not shown.”

Those were not in Ukraine’s inventory.

Nonsense. Of course they were...and there was a Ukrainian BUK battery operating not that far away from the suspected launch site.

It wouldn't be the first time Ukraine shot down a civilian airplane either.

I don't know you from Jack Schitt, yet I am supposed to know you are mostly sardonic?

You really need to quit assuming that everyone knows you intimately. You may even be well known by many, but you are not probably known, let alone well known, by the majority.

I think I know of you. If my memory serves me correctly you are the one who always posts articles on cold fusion. That is not a topic I know much about, nor is it something I am interested in, which means I don't read your posts. So, I really don't know Jack Shitt about you either. 🙂

You seem to be thin skinned and/or looking for a fight. Is that the case?

No on both. I didn't start this, You did. By your rude response. I disagreed with your saying that it was biased, because it wasn't biased. Furthermore, I said you must be a Ukraine/Zelea nskyy cheerleader if you actually do believe that it was biased write up. But then I also said, I apologize if that is not the case.

You could have easily answered me with 1) you were being sardonic & 2) you are not one of these cheerleaders. No rudeness on your part, and no misunderstanding on my part of your position regarding this topic as well.

Remember most of us are on this board because we have more in common than we have disagreements about what is going on, and what is happening to our country., and we want to work together to return it to its original intentions by it founders. 🙂

“Could it be because they believe so deeply in the ushering in of a One World Government, that they refuse to see that effort as even ever having a possibility of failing?”

Yes, I think that is exactly it. We have had undisputed top dog power for decades and have begun to believe in our own invincibility.

The rest of the world has begun to push back as we falter and we are slow to accept the change and frankly are now demonstrating desperation.

Trying to financially and economically destroy a nuclear powered country rich in the resources the world needs and then adding insult to injury by becoming a belligerent in this basically unimportant military conflict under the guise of defending “democracy” is just too stupid for belief.

We urgently need new leadership.

I am glad that you put liberated into quotations. Putting aside Crimea and Donbas, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts have clear Ukrainian majorities; they have been conquered, not "liberated." Any Russian annexation of these territories puts a lie to Russian justifications for the invasion.

Even in Donetsk and Luhansk, despite having Russian speaking majorities, the majority of the population is still Ukrainian. The author himself admits that the referenda and the Minsk agreements were for autonomy and not independence or reunion with Russia. Only in Crimea would I acknowledge that Russia has any valid claim.

As for Ukrainian shelling in Donbas, this would have been part of a military operation — like that of Russia — of the central government to reassert control over its territory and should not be portrayed as some sort of terrorist attack on the civilian population. This was an internal conflict within Ukraine and none of Russia's business.

And finally, as for this being a proxy war between Russia and NATO, there would have been no war at all if not for the Russian invasion. Even now, the war would end if Russia would just go home.

Unfortunately that won't happen soon. Even the Republicans are totally useless when it comes to Ukraine. Hopefully, we can take back control for the House & Senate, but I'm afraid that will not help us regarding this conflict, unless the majority of MAGA candidates win and actually are MAGA people.

Let's pray that is the reality. 🙂

Exactly. Too pro-Russian as if Putin was the savior of Europe.

No concept of the Red Chinese philosophy of “Fight, fight, talk, talk”. Used extensively by Hanoi while our diplomats fell for it.

No mention of the Russia’s firing the chemical artillery thermobaric shells from their soil against the Ukrainian army in the East.

Nothing about Russia troops or former troops, I.e. the Wagner forces, being used in Ukraine disguised as Donnas Russian speakers, etc.

I smell a red rat here, a “disinformatzia” operation.

Needs a lot more examination.

Fourth sentence says Russia was not a party to the conflict?

Say what? I stopped reading right there.

The conflict the article was referring to at that point was the referendums up for vote in Ukraine itself, long before the invasion.

***It would not take long, just looking thru posting history. The thing you did was: ASSume. You proceeded forth on your ASSumptions even in the face of evidence to the contrary, right on that post you responded to. Hence, I think I shall treat you as a standard putinista troll
ignore button:

I must assume, Kevmo, that you are one of the cheerleaders,
***another assumption. Perhaps it makes sense for me to CONCLUDE rather than assume that you are a straightforward putinista who couldn’t see propoganda if it were labelled as such.

Well, I only assumed because you gave me no other option. My eyes, due to macular degeneration, already require my necessity to read with a magnifying glass. So, perusing your posting history is not something I can do easily. It's much easier to assume, and query in a nice way to see if that assumption is correct.

May you have a blessed life.

How about missiles? They took out the Russian flagship using missiles from a drone.

The UA does not have that sort of armament. Moskva was sunk by multiple Neptune (Harpoon) missile strikes has ~700lb warhead; small drones may have over-watched the target; the missiles were launched from shore.

The Orcs already tried to destroy another very important concrete bridge with causing only minor damage. No missiles have enough explosive short a tactical nuke.

Slander is all they have. If one does not believe that the Republican and Democrat Parties last source of dirty money must be protected at all costs, from their point of view, one is a traitor. If one does not support George Soros, Joe Biden, on Ukraine. If one is not ready to pack up, take the first flight to Ukraine and fight to the last drop of blood while they remain in the States and count their blood money while playing with their secretary’s ass, one is, in their view, a traitor. Ever how much Soros is paying them, it is too much. They have not earned the money. They are one trick ponies. If you don't agree with me, you are a traitor. They do express it in different forms though.

http://www.military-today.com/missiles/buk.htm

The Buk (beech) air defense missile system was developed to replace the previous Kub. Its industrial designation is 9K37. Its reporting name in the West is SA-11 or Gadfly. Development of this system commenced in 1972. It was a successor to the Kub-M3. It entered service with the Soviet Army in 1980. The Buk has been exported to a number of countries. After collapse of the Soviet Union a number of air defense systems were passed on to successor states. Currently Russia operates around 350 of these systems. Other operators are Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cyprus, Egypt, Finland, Georgia, India, North Korea, Ukraine, Syria, Vietnam and Venezuela.
