I’ve done that kuchen using a combination of ingredients including almond paste, chocolate chips, ground up or chopped up walnuts or any variety of berry.....husband really loves the rhubarb and since we have three plants, it’ll be rhubarb..btw rhubarb freezes well.
Well, I hope there is some information about simple low tunnels that helps someone get their winter density and radishes going early next year!
went ahead and thru some squash plants in the garden today even though its still hitting 39 tonite....all my seedlings are out growing their containers....lol
btw...for all the gardeners who like to pickle, vinegar is really jumping in price so get some while you can.

I didn’t plant any Rhubarb, but I did plant two varieties of Celosia this morning. Dragon’s Breath Celosia, and Celosia Plumosa which is yellow. I think it makes the yard look much nicer. Only problem is I only bought 2 plants, and I could use 3 more, so it’s off to Lowe’s after work tomorrow.
Two new plants on the way. Had to order 2 shishito pepper plants from Bonnie. Cost 43.39. Ouch.

I was going to make that weedkiller tomorrow. I believe it was a cup each of vinegar and salt and a small amount of liquid dish soap. I was going to use water softener salt. Have lots of it and I will just be killing weeds in between patio bricks.

1 Gal. of white vinegar, 2 cups Epsom Salts, 1/4 cup of Dawn Dishwashing liquid.
thx....I was just mixing a batch when I thought I should stop and check the thread.....its so cold here for May....I can’t do much planting or transplanting....
so now its haling turning into rain and the temp has dropped about 10degrees in the last 20”.....
I don’t know why I enjoy eradicating weeds. Look forward to it every day

All things considered we are ahead of scheduled. The garden was tilled for the third time 3 weeks ago. Already in are tomatoes, most of the peppers, squash, Chinese Long beans, radishes, romaine, herbs, sugar pea pods and cukes. 6 broccoli plants went in today, a few left. Our red raspberry bushes (3) that we put in last year have multiplied to 11 bushes. Life is good.

As much as I HATED picking Raspberries for 8 hours a day M-F to sell at Saturday’s Farmers Market, you are going to LOVE having your own in your garden!
I added three ‘Patriot’ Blueberry bushes this season. They’re small, but blooming like crazy! I might actually have a few berries this season. They are SO good for you!
I have a million ‘baby’ grapes on the vine already. Looking forward to a bumper crop of grapes again this season. We are down to 6 pints of juice from last season, so fingers crossed for another good grape crop this season.
Even though we put the bushes in last year we had berries last summer, plenty for the two of us to eat. This summer probably some jam.
This could be a ‘tomato year’...my plants all look AWESOME...thick sturdy stems, and they are bushing out nicely...Since I planted rare and scarce ones this year, I am more than pleased at the results so far. I had ONE SEED remaining from my meager stash of Coeur de Boeuf Orange, and when it came up, it was looking shaky. HOWEVER, it is looking REAL GOOD right now, and I hope to get a nice crop of beautiful orange hearts off this plant. Clint Eastwood’s Rowdy Red plant looks like it has the potential to break the ‘house record’ of 167 tomatoes off one plant...it is budding already, and it isn’t even Memorial Day! Kiss the Sky (the heirloom variant of Purple Haze) also budding already...
Last year was awful, way too much rain in the NorthEast.
