What a pretty little floof!

Good morning. I hope you had a good night.

I woke up way too early but couldn’t sleep so here I am. I’ll go take my shower in a minute, but I had to get started on the bills. Blech.

I may take a nap later but for now, I’m up because it is what it is.

Good morning, and not bad. It’s hot again this morning, already.

Enjoy your shower!

The shower was OK, but not as hot as I would have liked, but that’s my fault for not letting the water run in the sink for the third time. But it was semi-hot and wet, so I’m good.

I need to write to Charlie then finish paying bills, and then I might take a nap. But not necessarily in that order!

It’s supposed to be clear today and mostly clear tomorrow, but we’ll see. Seems all it’s done since I’ve been here is rain. But I’ll just have to adjust my sails, since I can’t change the wind. So-to-speak.

I need to work on some Cub Scouts paperwork this morning. And I suppose I’ll call the Wasted Youth at some point.

Good morning. Happy Friday!

It’s hard to believe we’re up to the first weekend in June.

Oh, well, no stopping the march of time, I guess.

I wanted to think of the word for two consonants combining to make a single sound, like ch or sh. I asked Tom and Vlad. “Dipthong!” they chorused, but that’s wrong: dipthongs are only vowels.

As I was explaining the concept in more detail, the word came to me: digraph.

Meanwhile, Tom said, “Dipthong sounds like an elementary school insult!” and he walked into the next room and told Kathleen, “Get your feet off the sofa, you dipthong!” She replied, “Shut up, Tom! You’re a dipthong!”

DP came out of the sunroom and said, “It sounds like Kathleen just called Tom a dipthong.” “She did.”

Just another day on the mammoth steppe ...

I’m sitting here pretty happy with my streak.

And I’m thinking, “What would be REALLY amazing is to invent a game like this so I can retire.”

Back when our kids were kids, we listened to “Focus on the Family’s Adventures in Odyssey.” At some point one character described another as maladroit while some younger children were listening. The younger ones decided that “millijoit” must be a huge insult and started using it.

Later, when they tried to claim they hadn’t done anything wrong because they didn’t even know what it meant, they got lectured on the intent being more important than the understanding.

Anyway, it sounds like you have that show running on the mammoth steppe.

Kathleen has assimilated “dipthong.” It will be interesting to see if she tries it on any of the other Cub Scouts next week.

Yeah, I know lots of people who are dipthongs and don’t even know it. Wonderful word, that!

Funny exchange between the tallest child and the shortest one.

I moved things around in the kitchen area and realized that once again, I need to plan on taking a load to the thrift store.

And wonder of wonders! Kroger called to tell me a prescription was in! Maybe I’ll go get it tomorrow. Or wait until Monday, as another one is due. And when I want to leave (0800) is when the Walmart delivery is due. I could still go, but Saturday, driving someone else’s vehicle....

Just be glad your kids haven’t heard abuse man from Monty Python’s Argument Clinic sketch.

https://www.virginiawestern.edu/eng111/ArgumentClinic-MontyPython.pdf

Or if you’d rather watch, I can’t verify the quality but you could check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BRc5zV4YKU.

Just don’t let Kathleen see it.

Meanwhile, Tom said, β€œDipthong sounds like an elementary school insult!” and he walked into the next room and told Kathleen, β€œGet your feet off the sofa, you dipthong!” She replied, β€œShut up, Tom! You’re a dipthong!”

Omigosh, I love this too much. Hilarious!

Not often, but once in a while, my voice coach would wince and say β€œdiphthong!” when a little Texas accent crept into something I was singing.

And I don’t even have a strong accent.
