Why have you posted your vanity as news?
Why should someone "foreign" to your county be able to contribute
Why didn't you post this vanity in Chat?
Why should someone outside your Senate or House Congressional district be able to contribute
Why did you choose such a gooberhead name?
What the hell is a FNU LNU?
A Chinese midget farm?
Agreed!
Only citizens who can vote for a candidate should be able to contribute to their campaign.
“First Name Unknown Last Name Unknown”
Nothing about the government of the United States can be described as a democracy. In fact, the founders specifically stated that democracy does not work, thus, outspokenly avoided the same. Anyone calling our government a democracy is clearly ignorant. We have a republican form of governance or a constitutional representative government.
I think that's an FR no-no. I happen to agree with you if that's what you are implying. I believe that only individuals who are registered voters should be able to contribute to campaigns, but then I guess that makes me a commie or... even worse... a McCainiac.
One obvious "show" of this problem is the outside funding of referendums.
Put enough money into a referendum, and you can usually get the result you want.
And, constitutionally speaking, any American citizen can support any candidate anywhere in america.
Agreed, there should be a ban on political contributions from any company that derives a portion of it’s revenue from overseas.
Every definition of "republican form of governance" involves some level of democracy. It's not "direct democracy", but it is "representative democracy".
In the "good old days" there were some offices where the people voted for state representatives who in turn selected federal representatives, but even in these cases there was some role for citizen voters to play in who represented them.
Anyone who says that the US is a republic and not a democracy doesn't really understand what the word "republic" means. If you want to completely eliminate democracy from our governance system then you are a true Rightist who wants us to go back to a monarchy or similar.
Of course the reality is that we are neither a direct democracy nor a republican representative democracy. For some time we have been an oligarchy ruling over state fiefdoms. So niggling over what type of democracy we have is beside the point.
Let companies and labor unions encourage all of their employees and members to vote for particular candidates who support them, but leave it at that.
I think that politicians should only be able to accept donations from people that they directly represent. So, no out of county, district or state.
I’ve been listening to Rush’s podcasts from the 2008 election. Obambi had, at least, $500 million from foreign sources. McCain stated he would verify and reject any foreign funds. Obambi stated he would use any funds received, and then ‘examine’ the source, and ‘perhaps’ return any ‘inappropriate’ donations. Obambi learned well from the Clintons (Johnny Chung, Charlie Trie) that Asian, Chinese tyrants love it when democRATS are in the White House.
If Congress would regulate only that commerce which was truly interstate, a lot of political contributions would go away.
Not true...
"Foreign" Campaign Money Completely DestroysControls Representative Democracy...
Ease of control is just one of the reasons why the Founding Fathers created a Constitutional Republic so as to prevent the many historical tyrannical pitfalls of "representative democracy"...
Corporations can’t vote, so they shouldn’t be allowed to contribute to campaigns.
I doubt it’s a problem with anyone on FR considering the obvious subversion of our governments by corporations.
I clearly remember:
(Unrelated but) Arabs dancing in NJ streets on 9/11
Reports of many CC contributions ending in non-whole dollars- due to foreign currency conversion
The O-List....”journalists” on a secret mailing list to propel Obama over Clinton..
They just created fake ‘foundations’ like the Clintons and accept bribes disguised as donations from all over the world. 🤪
Libtards and rinos think it’s wonderful
Representative Democracy ? what is that ?
I believe the thinking was that if it was okay for labor unions to spend members' money on elections then corporations should also be able to spend money to protect their interests.
The so-called rights of "legal persons" has been so expanded by the corporate whores we call the Supreme Court that we might as well have the country run directly by the CEO's of the top ten DOW Jones companies.
