Only citizens who can vote for a candidate should be able to contribute to their campaign.
Nothing about the government of the United States can be described as a democracy. In fact, the founders specifically stated that democracy does not work, thus, outspokenly avoided the same. Anyone calling our government a democracy is clearly ignorant. We have a republican form of governance or a constitutional representative government.
One obvious "show" of this problem is the outside funding of referendums.
Put enough money into a referendum, and you can usually get the result you want.
And, constitutionally speaking, any American citizen can support any candidate anywhere in america.
Agreed, there should be a ban on political contributions from any company that derives a portion of it’s revenue from overseas.
I think that politicians should only be able to accept donations from people that they directly represent. So, no out of county, district or state.
I’ve been listening to Rush’s podcasts from the 2008 election. Obambi had, at least, $500 million from foreign sources. McCain stated he would verify and reject any foreign funds. Obambi stated he would use any funds received, and then ‘examine’ the source, and ‘perhaps’ return any ‘inappropriate’ donations. Obambi learned well from the Clintons (Johnny Chung, Charlie Trie) that Asian, Chinese tyrants love it when democRATS are in the White House.
