FR was vehemently opposed to the McCain/Feingold legislation and celebrated when the Supreme Court found it unconstitutional.

I believe the thinking was that if it was okay for labor unions to spend members' money on elections then corporations should also be able to spend money to protect their interests.

The so-called rights of "legal persons" has been so expanded by the corporate whores we call the Supreme Court that we might as well have the country run directly by the CEO's of the top ten DOW Jones companies.

Because it was, and it did nothing to prevent corporations from buying off politicians.

Reminds me of a recent post where someone suggested that given the abysmal failure of the Federal Government on so many levels, it would probably be to everyone’s advantage if we just have Walmart run the country!
