New Version of footage San Francisco 1906, A Trip Down Market Street, Shot on April 14, 1906, four days before the San Francisco earthquake and fire. From the front of a cable car, a motion picture camera records a trip down Market Street, San Francisco, California, from a point between 8th & 9th Streets, Eastward to the cable car turnaround at the Ferry Building. Please, be aware that colorization colors are not real and fake, colorization was made only for the ambiance and do not represent real historical data. Heh... the tech used for this video has only one problem, analogous to what happens in old westerns from Hollywood — the wheel spokes. In many scenes in old Hollywood movies, the wheels appear to be turning backwards. In this video, they appear to not be turning at all, for the most part.

My great-aunt married a survivor of the 1906 San Francisco shake & bake—about 30 years later. By the time I met her she was a widow so I never met him—he died before I was born.
