I’m sure we will soon be hearing how pit bulls are really nice dogs,.
This trash owner ought to be put down
Always. You can depend on it.
Ghetto ponies
Pitbulls are really nice dogs.
Until they are not.
Whenever a pitbull kills a child, or mauls a family member or guest, the family talks about how they never imagined the dog doing this, it was such a sweet dog. I witnessed “the switch flip” on a relative’s pitbull. It was indeed a sweet dog. None of us saw it coming, but thank God I was between my daughter and the dog when it happened. It was the first time the dog ever saw her, and it was never mistreated or abused, it was spoiled and loved. The next time I visited, I had them lock the dog up outside, but the dog still flipped when it saw my 5 year old.
There is something wrong with pitbulls. People who think their dog would never hurt anyone are deluded, and they will probably never see it coming.
They are not, and I speak from being attacked in my own yard by one who tried to come over my fence at me.
He didn't make it but his head was over and I almost lost three fingers. I realized the only way to save them was to rip them out of his mouth. While I went to the ER, animal control took him away for ten days but brought him back because the landlady, who was also attacked earlier, didn't report it.
The pit bull is still there and angry as ever when I get close to the fence. He and his female mate got into it a couple of weeks ago and fought for twenty minutes trying to kill each other. The neighbors, who weren't home at the time, have two little boys who are about the age to get out of the house when Mom isn't looking to go pet the dogs. I shudder to think what will happen if one playfully pulls the dogs ears.
Unless you are a professional dog behaviorist, your success rate at not having serious issues with owning a pit bull eventually are really really slim.
If you are a professional dog behaviorist, you will have a slightly better outcome.
Pit Bulls are often owned by owners that want a violent aggressive dog and encourage such. Pits are bred to be violent.
I have seen gentle and loving pits. I know they could snap and become a killing machine. Even the most gentle pit will do such if it perceives its owner in danger even though not in danger.
Pits are bad.
Prayers up for this lady, and also for Mr. Presley who could have saved her. It sounds like he did everything he could.
I saw some people selling pit pups out of the bed of a truck even today, here in my hometown.
Vicious dogs were actually foremost in my mind as I made the decision to carry a handgun.
Stories like this make it tempting to change to shot loads in some way or another. Maybe one of those derringers...
I have frequented the local dog park for years with my dogs. we have dogs get into it all the time. Sometimes it is deadly serious. When bad encounters happen with Pitts the reason most times is the owner ignores all the signs they have a dog with issues. really bad attacks don’t just happen, most time before there is a bad attack by a Pitt there is a lot of warnings in its behavior that their dog has issues and should not be in a park.... The big difference I have known is when another dog kills another dog it is usually a pit. The owners usually make excuses for the dog in the days or weeks leading up to an attack.
My nephew, thank God, called me when he was considering getting a dog for the family. First words out of his mouth at the time was a pitbull.
I told him it was not a good idea. Especially a rescue pit, because the shelters and rescues are known to lie about the dog’s temperaments. I encouraged him to research the breed further if he did not believe what I was telling him as a professional animal behavior consultant. Rescues often let their hearts get in the way of public safety. I cannot express how many times I have heard from a pit rescue foster, “The dog was fine here, the new owners must have done something to trigger the dog.” And the rescues are never held to account for their negligence or poor placements.
It is a breed I do not trust, ever. A few weeks later my nephew called back and said he never realized the inherent dangers of the breed after doing some research.
My nephew saved up the money and the family ended up with a french bulldog instead. Every dog in the local shelter was some form of pitbull or pitmix.
