Pitbulls are really nice dogs.

Until they are not.

Whenever a pitbull kills a child, or mauls a family member or guest, the family talks about how they never imagined the dog doing this, it was such a sweet dog. I witnessed “the switch flip” on a relative’s pitbull. It was indeed a sweet dog. None of us saw it coming, but thank God I was between my daughter and the dog when it happened. It was the first time the dog ever saw her, and it was never mistreated or abused, it was spoiled and loved. The next time I visited, I had them lock the dog up outside, but the dog still flipped when it saw my 5 year old.

There is something wrong with pitbulls. People who think their dog would never hurt anyone are deluded, and they will probably never see it coming.

Pit bulls are the sign of owner with mental health issues.

At the least, willfully ignoring the proven dangers.

I just had our old half pit put down. She was 15 years old and finally couldn’t stand up due to back leg/hip issues. She was a good dog and grew up with the kids. I don’t fully trust pure pit bulls. The biggest problem is, a bunch of aholes own them and try to make them mean. They also pay no attention to breeding so I’m sure there’s a lot of inbreeding being done and sometimes it’s just a matter of the owners not getting the dogs fixed because that costs money and many of the owners are meth heads. The dogs are allowed to inbreed at will.

German Shepards 1970s
Dobermans 1980s (Rosebud)
Rottweilers 80s-90
Chow chows for a short time

Now the badass fad dog is the pit bull and because of their super strength jaw and tendency to not let go no matter what, they are the most dangerous. Rottweilers were just so big that not many people got them. Even people who think they’re badass were scared of rotties. A doberman on steroids.

I would get another half pit without much concern. I’d love to have another Chow. The one I had was NOT a one man dog. She once kicked my neighbor’s shepard/dobie’s butt because it got up in the face of two kids she knew when they were little. They were in their young teens and she hadn’t seen them in 5 years or so but knew who they were and bolted across the yard to protect them.

Meanwhile, my neighbor up the road has a chow that ran out in the road and bit another neighbor’s kid. This chow owner is a bit of a blowhard jackass. ‘magine that.
