I’d swim.

No US based airline is worth the price of a ticket.

Drive to Florida instead, or somewhere on the Gulf, take a Caribbean cruise.

In before all the "I refuse to travel by air and besides all my friends and relatives live within 20 miles of me"-crowd.

One piece of advice: You are, of course, travelling FIRST CLASS, right? So try to figure out IN ADVANCE where the First Class lounges are located in the airports you'll be going through. You'll want to make a bee-line straight to them as soon as you land!

I highly recommend the one at the Honolulu Airport (if your lay-over is long enough, you might want to try getting a massage) - but don't bother about the "First Class" lounge in Hilo (Big Island): It's a remote, cramped room with a water fountain and a vending machine (stocked with stale candy).

Regards,

The reason I am asking is that Southwest flies only 737s and that seems to be a long trip for such a small airplane and what about food/snacks?

About an 8 hour flight. Try to fly on a Mon/Tues/Wed during late Sept, Oct, early Nov, late April, early May, when plane loads are light, then it’s possible to have a row all to yourself. Do not go late in May else you’ll get caught in things like UH graduation, Ironman events, WalkAThins. Load up your phone or tablet with Kindle books or movies.

Does Southwest serve Hawaii? Don’t they only fly 737s?

Outrigger ala Hawaii 5-0.

Make it a group trip for all that rowing.

Haven’t done it, but Southwest only flies 737s, and that seems like a very long flight in such a tiny aircraft.

I’d refuse to go because of the filthy scumbags that Hawaii sends to Washington. I’ve been..once.It was nice but have *no* desire to go back.

“Florida instead of Hawaii - worst travel advice ever.”

Stationed in Hawaii 1990-1993, and currently live in Florida. I have to say Florida beats Hawaii hands-down. In Hawaii, the locals hate you, the food is expensive (and terrible), and the beaches are over-crowded. Don’t get me started on the politics there. Come to Florida between October to March...you can’t beat the weather then!

Florida...absolutely. I prefer the west coast...Sarasota. Siesta Key has sand that's as fine as powdered sugar. Much less crowded than the east coast, and you're pretty close to Orlando.
