What Do You Think? (A Place To Share Our Ignorant Opinons)

Posted on 02/26/2022 10:35:39 AM PST by Jeff Chandler

I'll go first.

1.) The Whole Enchilada

I am not qualified to comment on the righteousness/outrageousness of this invasion. I don't know if Russia has legitimate claims to regions in Ukraine or even the entire county. A Freeper posted that Ukraine has been a part of Russian off and on for the past 400 years, and of source that has to enter into the equation. But I have learned not to believe anything I read or see on the news until additional information becomes available, and refuse to jump on the hate Russia bandwagon being whipped up by the same evil forces who continue to whip up Covid hysteria. It could be as simple the need to further demonize Russia so as to legitimize the false Trump/Russia claim.

2.) The Fight As It Now Stands

Although I have learned not to believe anything I read or see on the news until additional information becomes available, it appears that the Ukes are fighting back hard and good for them.

3.) The Ramifications For Warfare In General

Although I have learned not to believe anything I read or see on the news until additional information becomes available, it appears that, based upon reports of downed Russian tanks, armored vehicles, and aircraft, that those icons of modern warfare have become far less effective in this age of "anti" missiles.

If Ukraine is to ‘win’ they need a long bloody war. Russia wants a quick KO or a political decapitation so they can install their puppet. Draftees take time to become soldiers. Again, long attrition war.

To be expected, I guess.

For an interesting take on the history of this region, Viva Frei had a guest on his show this past week (on both rumble and youtube) to try to explain what is happening and why it is happening.

AGENDA
riots - pandemic - stolen election - war
The government of Ukraine is as legitimate as the Biden administration. Hell! They were installed by the globalists with the civil war encouragement of Biden/McCain.
Putin wants the energy resources, he wants to reestablish imperial pre 1900s Russia, not 20th century Soviet Union. He wants the nazi globalists in Ukraine and NATO to fek off.
I’m against the war because the cult wants it escalated to engulf end exterminate us all. NATO enforcing no fly zone over non full member state Ukraine will accomplish this and if you watch the coordinated Soros protests that popped up at the same time globally, you see that is the direction the cult wants this to go.

"Oh and Pedo Joe wasn;t lying when he said the US Army won’t fight in Ukraine. The Navy has its teams on the ground instead."

How do you know that? If your info is confidential, please don't answer. Loose lips...

Some kind of diversionary trap luring all eyes away as Putin’s getting ready to light off his big bang that no country has ever seen in history, possibly in conjunction with China?

This pure opinion-
This looks like a Jimma Carter operation, Micromanaged into failure.
What the Russians are doing to Ukraine is like the USA invading a breakaway Texas(Should Texas choose to do so, which it legally can).
Optics are everything when you are killing your own kind of people. So rather than do it correctly, they try to be “humane” and look compassionate.
I don’t believe the Russians are that incompetent as they appear to be, in this operation.

In 1996, political scientist Samuel huntington wrote “The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order.” In the book, he proposes that the 21st century will be marked by conflict between “civilizational centers” where people with cultures that share common roots gather together, and conflict and war will occur at the edges, where different civilizations meet each other.

He received a ton of condemnation for proposing that Islamic civilization would be a particular problem wherever it met the different civilizations all around it.

The civilizations in the book are Chinese, Russian, China, the West, Indian, Japanese, and Islam. He posits that Latin America might be in the process of creating its own civilization, and questioned whether sub-Saharan African could ever be considered a cohesive civilizational center.

His thesis was brilliant. Seen through this lens, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia makes sense. Ukraine straddles the West and Russia, with Orthodox Christianity in the east and Catholics in the west. Russia is seeking to create a buffer between itself and the West, and they’re seeing Ukraine as an intrusion into their own “sphere of influence.” Take a look at the Ukrainian response; I’ve seen posters by Ukrainians claiming that they’re part of the Western world. And you have the conflict.

Huntington also said that the West was the weakest of the civilizations, with conflict between competing parts, and a heritage that was already at the time of the book being rejected by the cultural elite of the West.

In the current conflict, you can also see evidence of Huntington’s thesis between Russia and the west-leaning Baltic states and Finland, and the concerns between Poland and Belarus.

I wish we had leadership who were well-read people. I can see Putin, though, knowing about Huntington’s book, as well as Xi in China. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have those in power in the West standing up for their own culture and values.

It’s a good book. I recommend it.

My Mother was a missionary to the Ukrainians moved to Saskatchewan and Alberta Canada after the Soviet programs starved Ukraine, ironic since it was the bread basket of the soviet empire. If Russia has a claim to Ukraine it is mainly well it’s right next door and we can kick their asses. Never have those two countries been of one family.

One of the stories my mom told us kids was that due to the extreme cold in Canada the Ukranian kids would get old adult sized shoes and fill them with manure then sick their feet in them to mold to size and then let them freeze.

Which means things are going to get really ugly, as apparently the Ukrainians are taking this invasion quite seriously.

Ukraine is yet the billionth(?) demonstration that there is no “Peace through Weakness”, that Climate Change is NOT the primary job of our military, that DEI is a method for our military to DIE and that Joe is a sad, sad JOKE!

Words fail!

The destruction isn’t as bad as everyone likes to report, but the Russians are having a harder time than thought. Russian speaking Ukrainians are getting out of the combat areas, Ukrainian speaking are fighting. They have always hated Russia proper.

Both sides are as corrupt as anything the Democrats are possible of doing, so neither government is clean.

Ukraine is currently made up of chunks from Russia, Poland, Romania, Belarus, and Hungary, with a core of an actual Ukraine centered on Kiev. I am waiting for Hungary and Poland to ask Ukraine for their portions back for actual combat support.
