We won't soon forget Trudeau's affair with totalitarianism

The prime minister revoked the utterly disturbing Emergencies Act last night, but Canada's problems might be just beginning.

What in the world is going on in Canada? Just last night, P.M. Trudeau revoked the Emergencies Act that he'd been using since last Monday to crack down on protesters. But the Parliament had approved those "emergency" measures, as we saw in news reports.

The Emergencies Act was approved in parliament by 185 to 151, with the minority Liberal government getting support from left-leaning New Democrats.

The special measures, announced by Trudeau a week ago, have been deemed unnecessary and an abuse of power by some opposition politicians.

Am I the only person who thinks it's insane to do something this large on a purely party vote? Furthermore, the precedent set is dangerous by allowing authorities to declare certain areas as "no-go zones," allowing police to freeze truckers' personal and corporate bank accounts, and compelling tow truck companies to haul away vehicles. Also, some of the leaders were denied bail. And Trudeau did say that "the threat continues"...

How did Canada get here? This was not a national emergency. It was restricted to some cities and should have been handled as a local or provincial matter.

There were many requests for crackdowns here on FR.

Mostly for the police to do their jobs and arrest the criminals who were looting and destroying businesses, assaulting people and setting buildings on fire. They were breaking the law.

BTW, martial law would have been totally inappropriate. Martial law can only be imposed in the US when the courts cannot be in-session. Clearly, the courts were in-session.

Martial law was not declared in the U.S.

The ONLY physical violence was perpetrated by the state.

Equating burning entire neighborhoods, rioting, and other vandalism with restricting roads is absurd and a complete non-sequitur.

The purpose of a NON-VIOLENT protest is to inconvenience those you are trying to get the attention of. Funny thing how Trudeau and those that support his side were all supportive of the farmers in India when they shut down entire highway systems for OVER A YEAR, but a couple of border crossings get shut down for a few days, and it’s the apocalypse!

Using the leftist tactic of equating words and PASSIVE RESISTANCE to violence is intellectually dishonest and borders on outright lying. You know better, or should anyway.

The “worst” thing the truckers did was blow their horns around Parliament Hill, inconveniencing a few locals.

"It is hard to imagine moves by Trudeau and his idiot minions more destructive to Canada than what they have done."
Isn't thee destruction of countries' national economies and political systems the real object of the global "Great Reset Plan."
