Resistant starch increases if potatoes are cooked ahead of time, cooled and reheated
Is Ms. Goyal the spokesperson for the potato institute?
As a weight-loss coach, this guy is useless.
I love potatoes but they are full of carbs and heavy carbs makes me store fat.
Nobody serious about weight loss would encourage you to consume potatoes.

In FR fashion I did not read the article, but potatoes are #1 on the “Satiety Index”.
They’re also loaded with potassium, so they’re good for fitness minded people as well.
Just don’t add half a stick of butter and a 1/4 lb of bacon...
Absolutely!
Potatoes are beloved food for the best bacteria to have living in us. These bacteria in turn stabilize our moods and make them happier. They fight our immune battles with us. They keep our digestion working well.
However, quantity is a thing. You only need about half a cooked potato to feed the gut bugs daily, and you can even use only 2 tbsp potato starch mixed into your cold water or milk to cut down on carbs. If you are normal weight, have the whole potato or whatever form it’s in. But for people in a losing weight mode, 1/2 potato or just the starch in water is best.
I eat potatoes every day to GAIN WEIGHT. Chicken, turkey, or beef plus steamed veggies for dinner. Healthful, but not enough calories without potatoes.
The potato is not the problem. It’s the salt, sour cream, butter, bacon bits and shredded cheese!
This is good. Went back on Weight Watchers last Friday. (Cholesterol above ranges) They now make it so potatoes, sweet and regular, are 0 points for me. Salsa is really good on baked potatoes. (JUST salsa, no creamy stuff)
After my wife retired and her gourmet cooking 7 days a week put extra pounds on both of us.
Then, I ended up with cardiac issues and a stent. We refused to go on the diets pushed by the cardio docs and their statins.
The FP, my wife had worked for about 4 decades had the same issues. Both he and his wife were gourmet cooks if not chefs. They gained even more weight than my wife and I did.
Together, the 3 of them remembered their Italian patients who ate the non fad keto diet of no starches unless they were done in the oven with olive oil and never gained weight.
So, they/we/I got into the non fad Keto diets. Dinners were prepared on cookie sheet pans with parchment paper on the cooking side of the pans. Only olive oil, sea salt and freshly ground pepper was used to cook with. Butter, real butter was on the table if we wanted to use it.
We char grill meals when not done in the oven and again Olive oil is the only additive besides real salt and pepper. We sometimes eat one slice of french bread with real butter.
My wife put up a snack counter with fruit, veggies and a almond/pecan bottomless bowl for snacks. No high sugar nor products with multi syllable ingredients. Nothing that came in a box or bag was served. Whenever, we get the hungry’s, we snack.
The Covid pandemic has resulted in a lot of weight gain with the patients/prisoners of the pandemic. Many if not most people can’t fit into jeans/slacks and fitted tops, they wore before the pandemic. That is not a problem with my wife, the Dr and his wife noted above and me.
In a few months, the retired Doctor and his wife lost 40 and 25 pounds. My wife lost 35, and I lost 25/30 with our modified Keto diet.
In the spring/summer and early fall, I/we visit the local fruit and veggie stand 2-3 times per week, and the owner will call us when certain veggie/fruit products are being picked.
We eat Salmon, chicken thighs, pulled pork, ham slices, steak or hamburger once a week and a lamb rack about every 2 weeks. We cook enough or grill enough for lunch leftovers.
wtf is wrong with calories?
I dont wanna starve
They don’t help diabetes.
No.
Been there, done that.
They are carbs.
