If Trump were in office, he'd offer to adopt/annex whatever provences would like to join the US.
And I wonder if anyone is regretting not buying Greenland, even giving money to each resident to sweeten the deal--I think I recall recently reading how other countries are now moving in and people miss the chance for America to adopt them.
