I hope someone reported that to the manufacturer as a complaint - it’s a medical device report (higher investigation and reporting requimrents then a normal complaint) as the patient’s life was at risk due to misdiagnosis.
The Pt was ventilating which is the number 1 life function. Once things calmed down, somebody cleared their head enough to order the blood test, which is by far a more reliable way to evaluate O2 levels.
I swore to never forget that episode. It surely was incompetence and really not some manufacturing defect, though a lot of those Oximeters are complete garbage.
