Community “charity” fundraising company GoFundMe demonstrated they’re woke and fascist at the same time by canceling the Freedom Convoy campaign and promising to send the $9+ million raised to “approved charities.” Now, they’re scrambling to fix the PR nightmare that ensued by moving to refund all donations.
The company had hoped that by dropping the news late on a Friday that they’d avoid some of the backlash. But it was quickly seized by conservatives across social media as an example of the totalitarian nature of the left. We didn’t let them oppose freedom without voicing our opinions and pushing to make them feel the pain.
But maybe it wasn’t just the backlash that got them to change their minds. As Christian competitor GiveSendGo noted on their social accounts, disputing the charges does more pain to the company than simply requesting a refund:

This shouldn’t even be news, and should have been their policy as soon as they decided to censure folks.

Yep ....and they announced they were going to steal it. I’d like to see if they have stolen previous donations. People would be crazy to ever send them money.
Glad to hear it. I was dumbfounded when I read a couple of days ago that GoFundMe was even doing this…do they have no lawyers who could have told them the stupidity of this?
They’re trying to walk it back now with the “refund”…in which case, every donor should get a share of the interest they’re making on investing that 10 million dollars until it’s refunded.
It’s a total fraud, that was theft, and the states attorneys should go after the company hard. Methinks that GFM is gonna go down.
As long as they are switching to automatic refunds, how about automatic firing of their board of directors for this cluster fark?
It certainly is, and the fact that the original decision was to allow donors only two weeks to complete a "request" for refund indicates that they absolutely intended to redirect the money. It couldn't be any faker if a Nigerian prince was involved.

Even so, no conservative group should EVER use GoFundMe again.
