The fire department that I retired from currently has over twice as many people out sick as the previous record. The governor ordered everyone on fire departments not vaxxed to be fired but very few of them are “sick”, so they are being ordered to work mandatory overtime to cover for their “sick” vaxxed coworkers until the crisis has passed. Then they will be fired. The funny thing is that most of those off “sick” wouldn’t even bother during normal times because it is for the most part nothing more than a typical seasonal cold.

Well, at the state level, the emergency powers of governors are usually designed to only be used when there is real emergency and the legislature can’t meet. If the legislature is able to convene (even remotely), then there is no legitimate emergency. It doesn’t qualify as an emergency just because the legislature is gridlocked and can’t pass anything. Otherwise emergency powers would be invoked every day.

At the federal level, the President has no emergency powers at all, so there’s not even any debate to be had that he can bypass congress that way.

I made an appointment with my doctor along with a comprehensive list of medical reasons that I should not be vaxxed. He forwarded a medical exemption to company HR. I asked for an expedited decision in early November as we have to make the annual healthcare elections that are not changeable. I stated that I needed to know whether to submit my elections for 2022 or initiate retirement proceedings. I received a prompt reply...accepted. I plan to work through Dec 31, 2022 at which time I'll be 66 1/2. Max social security and debt free. I love my work. The income is wonderful, but it's not worth a frog march to the cemetery to retain it.

My wife has extra exposure as the "front office" staff is exposed to the public at the front desk and officers are exposed to the public daily. Many of the dispatchers (all female) have young children and bring their diseases into dispatch. Both gals at the front desk have had COVID and recovered. 3 dispatchers have had COVID, recovered, then two got vaxxed and caught another round of COVID. The dispatch supervisor (unvaxxed female) is recovering from her round of COVID. At least 3 of the dispatch staff now have long COVID brain fog issues. My wife has been pulling 12 ON/12 OFF shifts covering for all the sick co-workers. She may be joining the ranks of the sick now.

Regarding the unvaxxed firefighters covering for the sick, vaxxed firefighters, but still facing firing for being unvaxxed...their management is dumb as a sack of hammers. It's the vaxxed filling the ER, ICU and morgues of late. Don't pee on the unvaxxed. They may be all the trained personnel left standing soon.
