A long time ago I had about half a year of German in high school. What I was quickly amazed at was how much of English comes from the Germanic language.

Thank you. Your translation is best.Thank you for the complement. I took a year of Russian in college, but that was a long time ago. I can barely read it anymore.

Close. Very close.
The title is actually “Liberals” (plural.)
The byline is “(They) don’t want to live as friends.”
The final word is the neuter form of the adjective “friendly,” which when used in this syntactical context, functions as an adverb.

I found the rigor of German grammar in high school made my performance in English grammar better. I had to master both languages to have a precise understanding of the concepts. Scots Gaelic is adding new dimensions with lenition and insertion of vowel sounds e.g. Alba is pronounced Al-uh-ba. Similar to German inserts of "h" such that Stein is pronouced Shtein, Torsten->Torschten. Welsh includes contact mutation, nasal mutation and aspirant mutation. Each invokes a spelling change. The intent is to make the spoken language flow. Yn Penybont->Ym Mhenybont. The "m" sound flows. Yn Caerdydd-> yng Ngaerdydd...the nasal mutation flows. Lenition in Scots and Irish Gaelic lends a similar flow to spoken Gaelic.
