Perhaps someone can post just how this gentleman who called himself Meatloaf, through his music and lyrics gave them critical insight to life’s existential questions and conflicts.
Vapid celebrity worship is a sign of a decadent and deteriorating culture.
Didn’t get laid again, huh?
Thats what they said about Chrysogonus of Athens.
Meatloaf, through his music and lyrics gave them critical insight to life’s existential questions and conflicts.

Most of us just sang along for entertainment.
I think it’s obvious if we searching for critical insight into life’s existential questions and conflicts we would have just freepmailed you for guidance
Vapid trashing of a person is also a sign of our current decadent and deteriorating culture.
“Valid celebrity worship...”
Been going on forever, but I agree with you, celebrity worship is nonsensical.
I’m with you.
Let me sleep on it...
I sensed that more than ever when Heath Ledger died and there was 3 months of sorrow every single day, over and over again, about what such a terrible loss it was the Heath Ledger passed away.
I had no clue who he was.
Vapid celebrity worship is a sign of a decadent and deteriorating culture.

Has there ever been a time in recorded history when people didn’t idolize those with some kind of talent, ability or even power? It human nature. You can debate the value of a person’s contribution to society/culture but we all value things differently.
What is vapid is in the eye of the beholder, as are so many things.
"Praying for the end of time" isn't existential enough for you? ;)
Some of us just enjoyed his music and acting. The guy had operatic talent that he applied to well written and orchestrated rock and roll and acted creditably in a few memorable films. In the context of this website, it helps that he was a vocal Conservative when interviewers asked about his politics. It’s not necessarily “worship” when you simply enjoyed, and are saddened with the passing of, an entertainer with genuine talent and who came across as someone you could share a beer or two with.
He gave us joy. Being sad when someone who gave us joy dies is not celebrity worship, it’s human. Sorry it bothers you, but it’s on you, not us.
Always seemed like a macabre start to the morning, to see who died and the perverse joy they had not seeing their names listed among them.
But it kinda makes sense now that I’m getting older and can also mark time by the names, faces and voices I grew up leaving us.
I don’t see anyone worshipping him or sacrificing their first born to him, what I do,see are folks reminiscing znd remembering him and his music fondly. That is a far far cry from worshiping a person. It’s no different than when our loved ones die znd we remember them with fondness and appreciation for, what they meant to us. Why are you trying to shame people for simply COMMENTING about a lerformer that they liked listening to by snidely claiming the person is worshipping them?
There were Elvis fans and Sinatra fans…..no big deal.
Good grief.
1. He didn't call himself Meat Loaf. His high school football coach did.
2. Clearly, you never heard any of his music.
3. It isn't celebrity worship. Dude was blessed with considerable talent. Do yourself the favor of listening to his rendition of the National Anthem at the 1994 MLB All Star Game: Meat Loaf National Anthem
I want you, I need you
But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
It's damn near Shakespeare
Paradise by the Dashboard Light is an epic and common story.
Married high school sweetheart, will be 48 years and not because i had to, but I’m “prayin’ for the end of time.” Just sayin’.
Allen of dale, you aint been laid by no lady.
