Went to my bank 2 weeks ago. In their new list posted of days closed in 2022 they had Indigenous Peoples Day,
I told them how insulted I was by this naming and the Least they could do is have both names on the day.
The manager was surprised.
And last week they changed it.
Said I was the only person to complain. But I made sense.
So Kick Up a Fuss!
and suggest where you think she should put the post?
Oh, I don’t care one way or the other, but Are you Gracie Burns? That is SUCH a straight setup line..that I’m just going to leave there.
I hoped a few of you guys might smirk when you read that. I also figured a bit of humor might soften the comment.
We all need a bit of humor or a bit of nice these days.
It's a term used by people who are ignorant of history.
What perplexes me is that rather than a holiday celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation or the 13th Amendment they pick what is a Texas holiday. Not only that but June 19th happens when most schools are out and have been for a few weeks. I thought they would want to force school kids to spend at least a week acknowledging the holiday.
Retail and fast food are in their own universe for this; none of my acquaintances (in a dozen different fields) works on Memorial Day either (I’d add that to the “untouchable” list.
That probably is when they consolidated them; when I was in elementary school we had the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln as separate days off (and MLK Day hadn’t happened yet).
Thanks; that’s interesting. As I open my gifts we’ll reflect on “Juneteenth”...
No! People will think you’re commemorating their contribution to world communism! Wear blue...
So...when do we get day # 3? Louis Farrakhan was born on May 11th...
The problem here in NJ is that we have imported so many non-Westerners that we have to accommodate Muslim and Hindu holidays as well; large school districts like Jersey City have to make all kinds of arrangements for this.
In the end, they’ll have to imitate some companies which just set up floating days - celebrate what you want, but get your work done...
I didn’t know about the Rosenbergs until I had to look up the date when the official announcement was made - because I realized the gubmint and some employers/schools would have to dance around it, and I wouldn’t tolerate the racial-scab-picking nonsense this dragged up.
I don’t understand; are you referring to the legacy/history of Columbus? Much of the smears against him are completely fabricated, and I draw a huge distinction between a foreigner from more than five centuries ago celebrated today for his courage and seamanship and an American from half a century ago celebrated for his “character”.
How about if it’s a red MAGA shirt?
Wear tie dye.....
Is your bank in Hartford? I think they have officially replaced CD with IPD.
OK, permission granted (/s)
I’m still disgusted that the enemedia permanently set the color format for elections, switching red to Republican and blue to Dems. Dems are “reds”, more clearly now than ever before; they mourn the Rosenbergs.
Nope; tie dye = hippie = Democrat
No. Complain. Tell them you are insulted. Tell them it is demeaning and insults the heritage and contributions of those of Italian heritage to the hartford area and all of Connecticut.
I’m not in that part of the state. Just wondered if your bank had branches there and so was humoring the City.
the city cares what day the bank celebrates?
