Whether it's a shortage of grocery items or prices skyrocketing at stores—shoppers aren't happy. Due to supply chain issues that have caused strain on major retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion, Costco, customers are experiencing frustrations while shopping for food and other daily essentials at their local stores.
We reached out to our readers on Facebook and Twitter and asked them to share about the specific grocery shortages that are currently frustrating them the most. Customers from around the U.S. wrote in their current frustrations at stores—and a few repeated items popped up from shopper complaints.
“A can of tuna in the people aisle isn’t cheap...”
Not cheap when you have a barn full of cats.
Walmart has the best pick up in Town!! I picked up $100 worth of groceries yesterday. I was certain it would fill my car. Alas....2 bankers boxes.
Thanks for that food for thought Professor Bratch.
Amazing what I learn here at FR. Often from looking up stuff. Just did that and it turns out tuna is loaded with taurine. :)
Now I look up cat dental health.
Actually no I have to shop for my seniors now.
But I go wiser than I was. I would never have imagined any fanged carnivore would insist on pate! Ick!
“Ahhh, not so fast there! Just went to our Walmart here in Florida and the canned cat food shelves were bare.”
Walmart has always been that way... They seem to only stock the shelves at night, here. Just run across the street to Publix and get what you need. Plus, sometimes you can find buy-one-get-one at Publix.
One of the products that have completely changed is diet soda. Most of the products had switched to sucrolose from aspartame which causes slowing of neurons. All the zero sugar ones are back using aspartame except Shasta if you can find it. There’s only one plant that makes sucrolose and they have been short staffed due to could for over a year.
I bought all the pasta up in February ‘20 preparing Covid Armageddon. How long does that stuff last?
Has to be regional. We have bare spots for some kinds of pasta here (Albuquerque, NM), but they go in cycles. The big thing right now in our area is Best Foods/Hellmann's mayonnaise. Coming up on two weeks since they had the standard flavor and size (not light, or olive oil base or huge jars) and yesterday they were completely out of all sizes/versions. The store brand and Kraft Mayo were full, but Best Foods was completely gone.
If this is the extent of your knowledge about what constitutes an adequate diet for cats, then please don't demonstrate your ignorance by posting drivel like this. A diet of [mercury containing] tuna or sardines does not contain certain vitamins and other nutrients essential for cats' health. And I'm sure that people who put out feeders to attract birds for them to watch would really appreciate everyone's cat turned loose to forage for its own food. Cat lovers would surely appreciate the fleas and other vermin brought back into the house and their cat exposed to diseases, cars, and internal parasites.

Well-played.
I bought up pasta in October...enough to last me till spring. It’s Upstate NY...Think ahead!!
You need cream cheese to make proper cake frosting. 2-3 boxes for the average cake.
It seems the both of us have some research to do!
My friend had to go to 4 groceries to find chicken liver and other chicken parts to make her own cat food, since there is such a dire shortage of the canned stuff. My cats are upset that I can’t get some of their favorite varieties and it’s bound to get worse. I have a growing kitten and she needs plenty of food to reach her full potential. Let’s go Brandon...burn in Hell, along with your crew of freaks.
This is from a Walmart January 4th. My local HEB in Texas looked like this yesterday. The Cats are very angry.
Please ask the mod to delete your long link which has destroyed the page format, and turn it into a tinyurl.com
All our Food Lions/Weis Markets are the ass cracks of grocery stores.
YUCK. JMHO.
Good on you! They hate the truth, but they need to hear it. As often as possible.
Tomorrows headline:
Due to the shortage of cat food, they are now eating their owners.
