The wide receiver left following an outburst on the sideline
Antonio Brown has left the building.
In one of the strangest moments of the NFL season, the Buccaneers wide receiver abruptly removed his shoulder pads and undershirt and jogged to the locker room at MetLife Stadium during the third quarter of Tampa Bay's Week 17 matchup with the New York Jets.
Here's video of the scene, which shows Brown stripping off his pads, throwing his undershirt and gloves into the stands, and running toward the locker room in the middle of the game while the Bucs were on offense.
Brown, who had three catches for 26 yards on five targets at the time, apparently "boiled over" and was "very upset" on the sideline, according to FOX sideline reporter Jen Hale.
Hale reported that Mike Evans and O.J. Howard tried to convince Brown to keep his shoulder pads on before he made his sudden exit. Here's another angle of the incident filmed by a fan in the stands.
It appears head coach Bruce Arians benched Brown, which led to the former New England Patriots wide receiver's outburst.
We'll update this article with more information as it becomes available.
Let me guess.....this is due to the deep racism that exists in the Bucs organization and shows how far we still have to go in order to achieve equity and racial equality.
DOnt blame them. I wonder if Tom was consulted.
Or fire him because he refuses to get the vaccine?
The Players' Union may have something to say about that.
Just in: Bruce Arians said brown is no longer with the Bucaneers
Well he didn't play for the Gators, they have the monopoly on shoe throwing.
Cut it out before it spreads.
“A large shoe is likely to boomerang”
Only in Philadelphia. Lol
Your choice...
At this point I just hope AB gets the help he needs.
I agree.
The Jets coach Saleh is an idiot. Had his QB try a sneak on 4th down AND TWO inside the 10. This after the Bucs could not stop the Jets rookie receiver all day long, yet the Jets didn’t target him once in the red zone.
On the Fox Post Game show, they announced that Bruce Arians the HC at Tampa said that Antonio Brown was no longer a member of the team, apparently Antonio Brown is gone.
This was his 4th team, the guy had HOF talent and was let go by Pittsburg, Las Vegas, New England and now Tampa, he got at least one to many chances.
He’s gotta want help.....at this point he looks like the Dennis Rodman of the nfl.
Yep, I was just reviewing the play-by-play late, I’d fire that Jets head coach on the spot for that.
BINGO. That is why he freaked. AB owes a crapload of money to two women in lawsuit settlements. Arians cost him something like $330k in bonuses by benching him.
That’s an insult to Rodman. Rodman always gave 100% on the floor, off the court, that’s his business.
On the other hand, they were going to lose anyway. They are the Jets.
I suspect the Union will step in and make sure AB gets his money.
He did not go full Slapshot.
