Incoming New York City Mayor Eric Adams says he will keep outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio’s vaccine mandate to visit businesses in place when he is sworn in on New Year’s Eve.
"We are going to keep that in place," Adams said in a Thursday press conference when asked about de Blasio’s controversial coronavirus vaccine mandate. "We spoke with our business leaders today to let them know we’re going to keep that in place."
Adams continued, "This virus is ever moving. As we continue to look at the evolution of this virus, there will be moments when we can change some of the mandates. I would love to get to the day when we won't have children wearing masks in schools, when we won't have families needing to sit in a restaurant or visit other locations with the vaccine cards. We're going to make those adjustments based on what the science tells us when we can remove some of the mandates. And there may come a time if a new variant comes where we have to increase mandates.

“It was also announced in the press conference that Adams will leave de Blasio’s private sector employee vaccine mandate in place but will “focus on compliance, not punishment.””
LOL- yet they want to get people back into the city working as businesses. Not a day goes by i don’t wish the city and state of NY goes bankrupt as soon as possible.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
Adams was the Democrats last choice. Maya Wiley was the choice of the AOC crowd. Kathryn Garcia was the choice of the upper crust manhattanites and the NY Slimes.
So no, ranked choice had nothing to do with it.
Oh well Dumb York, you could have had Curtis Sliwa but instead you got DiBlasio part 2! Bwahahhhaah!
The “ranked choice’ system was set up by the Democrats for the primary so they could take out the AOC candidate for mayor.
They succeeded.
In Alaska the GOP has created a ranked choice Senate primary to defeat the “extreme” Trump backed candidate and hopefully get everyone to vote Murkowski second or third so she wins.
“Ranked Choice” is about creating a primary system that allows “moderates”, the “mainstream” politicians to win in the end.
Just like with the governor.
The left never replaces someone with anyone better. It’s always worse, more radical, and kookier.
Sounds like he inherited DiBlasio’s pot stash too.
They voted for it.
Enjoy the suck!
Except that Adams would have won in a first past the post system too. He led the initial returns and never fell behind.
Ranked choice was actually set up for Garcia, who was the candidate the NY Slimes and Manhattan wanted, Adams just flat out beat them.
Another power junkie.
NYC seems to have an endless supply of them.
In Minneapolis, it’s called “ranked choice cheating”.
Put in by democrats to insure only democrats can win, and it’s working as designed.
Adams is the most pro police candidate the dems offered. The voters like cops. He led at every stage of the ranked choice voting, so it appears it was not rigged.
I live in FLorida - I’m from NYC, but I’ve lived here for about 20 years now.
I came back from a trip to Georgia today and when I crossed the state line into Florida, I saw a sign next to the marker that said “Take selfies at the Florida Welcome Center.”
So many people were stopping to take selfies of themselves moving to Florida that it was actually causing traffic problems at the state line.
This is not a joke or an exaggeration, btw; I actually saw this today on my way back home to Jacksonville.
Scary. Same thing happening in Georgia.
Meet the new boss
My only concern is that our ex-New Yorkers and ex-Californians don’t leave their politics at the border and instead come and ruin our states!
They don’t. It’s in their DNA. They’re too arrogant.
This “policy” is not even two weeks old - decreed by a disgraced, lame duck mayor. And this moron is “keeping” it.
