Reported brush with Bigfoot stirring interest

CHANDLERVILLE — It was an encounter along Illinois 78 near Chandlerville that lasted just seconds. But it left a lasting impression on a driver going from Cass County to Tazewell County that night.

"When it hit the shoulder, it looked back at me," he said. "I said to myself out loud, '(expletive)ing Bigfoot!'."

Garver was driving the stretch of road about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 29, heading north, about 85 miles north of Alton.

"I saw a large animal jump into the road about 40 yards ahead. When it hit the road, I could see very large legs spread wide in a dead run with large, swinging, hairy arms. The arms switched back and forth close to the ground as its body was leaning forward. It leaped across the road in two jumps," he told investigators for the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, a scientific research group founded in 1995.

Garver said it was about two seconds before the creature vanished into the darkness.

"I could see it clearly," he said. "It was very large and, even though it was hunched over nearly horizontal, it still was close to being wider than my car and nearly to the top of my windshield. It blocked out the lights of (a) car ahead." He recalled it having shiny black hair and a huge stride. "It was running and leaping very fast," he said. "Nearly as fast as a white-tail deer."

You were there and saw it too huh? Hundreds of reports from outdoorsmen, hunters, forest rangers, even biologists that know what a bear looks like have reported seeing these extremely tall, hairy bipeds and said "It was no bear."

—”What was Jussie’s alibi?”

Being 19 degrees BELOW ZERO that night, more likely a Yetti or an Abominable Snowman?

Good thing he had a club sandwich in hand for defense.

"magically able to detect trail cameras"

Many critters can see the infrared light of trail cameras.

Coyotes see them and try to avoid being in front of the field of view.

Deer see them and do not care. I had plenty of night pic of deer walking to a trail cam and placing their nose on the lens.

Feral hogs, not so much. Their vision is said to be close to what humans can see/notice.

Skunks & coons do not care since they are not being shot at that moment.

'I could see very large legs spread wide'

Oh, the jokes just write themselves with this one, don't they?

—”No pic - didn’t happen.”

Would you believe, a melanistic 10 point deer?

What if it was a gaggle of run-away illegals?

How about, he stopped for a cold one and ran into some old pals who fed him magic mushrooms?

—”Healthy skepticism is one thing, but flat out denial is stupidity.”
No disagreement.

—”Absence of proof is not proof of absence.”
Sounds good but makes my brain hurt.
IIRC that is a near-famous fallacy?

Argument from ignorance (from Latin: argumentum ad ignorantiam), also known as appeal to ignorance (in which ignorance represents “a lack of contrary evidence”), is a fallacy in informal logic.

How fast are wild hogs?
They are moving into that area.

There definitely ain’t any Bigfoots in the South as there is a game camera behind every tree.

Bigfoots started showing up right around the time we discovered the American continent. Apes could have been imported in the 1600s and escaped.

Breeding populations?

It was 87, and I was working on the dregs of the oil bust in Alberta. Had been out working on a rig for a couple of weeks, made it to town, and after way too many shots of Yukon Jack ( don’t judge me) a “lady” approached me and wanted me to buy her some drinks. I told myself she was first nations, but in my heart I knew she was Samsquantch.

Yeah. There are breeding populations.

Bigfoots or is it bigfeet? are like UFOs, unless you have seen one yourself, you deny they exist.

Must have been a bear.

Must have been a weather balloon.

“...They don’t exist; it’s BS.”

They never find any Bigfoot scat either. Is this creature always constipated? Does is poop outside of the woods?

[[Haha, BFRO? “Scientific”? Too funny..]]

Exactly- someone on his crew stated that they KNEW a ‘figure silhouetted on a hill’ was a human being, but they made it out like it was a bog foot anyways- and recounted several other incidents where they just made up crap i n order to keep interest in the show going- they are a compelte joke- EVERYTHING either sounds squachy to them or smells squachy

Exactly.
IF it exists for real, it has to leave some REAL signs and trails. The fake footprints are man-made, publicity BS.

Hogs are fast, but not Whitetail deer fast. You might be on to something there, his description does remotely resemble a big hog on the run.
