A motorcycle is many things. It is an adventure, a lifestyle, a mode of transportation; but most importantly, a motorcycle is supposed to be reliable, cool, or at the very least, ergonomic to ride. In fact, if presented with the opportunity to purchase any of these bikes, turn tail, and run! These motorcycles are anything but reliable, cool, or ergonomic.
Whether these bikes are unreliable, have awkward positions for pegs or handlebars, or even have some questionable design choices, these Motorcycles will have you regretting your purchase in no time! Some of these bikes are from well-known manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson. Others are more obscure, like Bimota. No motorcycle manufacturer is safe from having a bike that you'll regret buying!

The Harley Sportster made no sense. There was so much fanfare that happened up to its big reveal and i t turned out to be a disappointment. HD has to stop trying to be something it’s not and that is a sports bike company. They should stick to what they know — well built cruisers. I realize the foreign manufacturers, like Kawasaki and Honda, are hurting their bottom line with their own cruisers, but HD has to just up their game—not change it.
All good. I grew up riding dirt bikes. Rode street bikes throughout my young adult life. Never wrecked my street bikes, but had some AMAZINGLY crazy close calls. Wrecked a lot of dirt bikes. The dirt bike experience kept me alive on the street. Now I’ve promised the wife no more street bikes. I’m lucky though, cause I can rip through the woods pastures and groves on my yz450. Yes dear, I’ll stick to boats and dirt bikes lol. Hitting the rev limiter in 5th gear is prolly 80 plus mph and fills the need amazingly.
As far as street bikes go, it’s the same as dirt bikes. There are only 2 types of riders: Those have gone down, and those who will.
Loved hitting the open road back in the day, but I’ll take my compromise
Still recovering from a bruised rib after launching my 450 into the bushes nearly a month ago. Can’t imagine how I’d be hurting if I’d thrown down a big street bike on the asphalt.
Still, I’m ready to go. 5th gear wheelies?
Just remember, when you’re drifting through a corner because of unexpected gravel dirt or leaves in the road, Dern it, shoulda spent more time in the dirt 😎

The last advice I took from a bike magazine led me to buy a BSA when I should have bought a Honda. 50 years later it still irks me.
Ha. The 883 sportster? I rebuilt and rode a 77 AMF Sportster. Oh man. I loved that piece of junk. Every time something vibrated off, I’d put locktight on it and bolt it back on. Horrible machine. Kick start only. Not for the weak and feeble. Still it was small, my dirt bikes are bigger. I looked like a spider on that thing.
My ‘79 Honda cb750f super sport, now that was a sweet sweet ride. Still, the AMF with no baffles was fun for annoying people
I’ll stay with my ‘36 Indian Chief.
I have an Indian Scout 2012 too and my most recent one was a Harley Softail Springer. There’s a Youtube channel called Beards and Bikes which I watch and he’s very knowledgeable of all types of bikes from racing to Harley. and he quote Bibles passages from time to time too.
Looks a lot like my first bike - a 74 Yamaha TX-650. I could hit 90 mph in 2nd gear - quite the ride for a 17 year old.
I’ve never had a bad motorcycle. Some I’ve liked more than others though. My first was a Honda 50 Super Sport (I was 15 y/o). My second was a YDS-3 Yamaha 250 2-stroke. My second was a Honda 450 4 cylinder. It was my least favorite scooter bar none. By that time I was in the Navy, in Hawaii, married with a baby on the way, little money and flying by butt of with little time for anything but family when not in deployment to WESTPAC.
Finally in the late ‘70s things had stabilized enough to buy a Suzuki 550/4. Nice scooter, comfy two up and stone reliable. I never really liked it. So I bought a Honda Saber V4. Awesome bike. Smooth, fast, great handling,my daily driver. After about 2 years on it I had a very near-death experience on it coming home from work one afternoon. I wasn’t actually hit but sacred me enough to reconsider bikes with a wife and two young boys depending on me. That was my last bike.
Until about 30-some years later, I got back in the pool with a new, 2012 BMW R1200RT (Midnight Blue). Magnificent motorcycle, awesome power, handles like a sport bike, so smooth it’s not a problem Riding several hundred miles a day without pain. I’m 72 now snd my knees are shot so I seldom ride it any more but I’ll never sell it.
Interesting. I was thinking about buying the HD 883 based on the promotional video; it is a very cool looking cruiser. My local HD dealer did not have one for me to test ride however. I may still look at it but the odds of my buying it have gone way down.
I hear you! We all have some good stories.
My favorite story is when I rode right into a “little” tornado on the corner of Oakland Park Blvd and State road 7 in Ft. Lauderdale in 2000 (on my 93 FX) I dove off the bike and lay in the street, watching it spin on the peg like a food processor. Two Rastamen with dreads down to their waist righted the bike, put me back on it, and I rode the 10 miles home in one gear. It took two hours to go 10 miles.
Oh...and it was hailing.
I still have scars from the road rash, and still ride that same bike. LOL.
We’ve been through a lot together, me and Blue. (She’s a female and so am I...if it has wheels or you-know-whats, it’s gonna give you problems!) hahaha.
The 883 is kind of pointless. It’s just a 1200 with smaller jugs. I’m not a fan of HD, but if I was to get one it would not be an under powered Sportster which is what the Iron is.
I was thinking about getting an HD bike cover for my Indian so no one would steal it LOL
Harley dealers love selling the small Sprotster because it usually precipitates two more sales (at least).
The first is when the guy who bought the Sporty decides he wished he’d got the big Harley to begin with so he brings it back to trade it in on his dream bike. And the second is when the the dealer sells the used Sporty to some other sucker and starts the cycle again.
2 stroke engines are a pain in the backside.

My Scout is a 2017.
I’ve watched some of Beards and Bikes videos. I’m not impressed. In one he was ripping Indians because he bought one with a title problem and blamed it on the brand, not his own mistake. We all make stupid mistakes. Own up to it, not run down the brand.
I had the 350... need I say more... but loving the challenge de Italiano I had a Ducati 160 desmo, and the 250 before I swore off Italian iron, but not before the Guzzi Ambassador.
I liked my Honda CB650 with shaft drive. Interesting bike. I still think my Honda 350 was the best one I owned so far.
“Many Harley-Davidson bikes have the distinction of being well built, reliable, and comfortable to ride. “
Figured this would be good for a laugh. They leave out HD being capable of anything related to motorcycle performance.
I doubt this noob even owns a bike! Probably thinks a long ride is anything over 80 miles . . .
Never truely gone long distance on a bike until you do the last 50-100 miles almost standing up. DC to South Georgia in 1 day on a Yamaha. Ouch. My ass hurts just thinking about it again. Made great time.
