Eighth grade. On the day of the JFK assassination, I didn’t feel well when I woke up and stayed home. I was watching TV when the news broke.

Sister Mary Reginald’s eighth grade classroom. Mother superior came on the PA with an announcement that the President’s motorcade had been fired upon in Texas. We waited anxiously for further word. Later, she announced that the President was dead. We were stunned. Classes were dismissed, and we were sent home. What a time.

I can still hear the screams of all the little girls in the school building when Sister Elizabeth announced it over the PA system.

Probably crapping my diapers, as I was only 2 1/2. I have no memories of the events of that weekend. But I got a quick education 5 years later when RFK was assassinated.

JFK was murdered on the streets of Dallas 58 years ago today.
I was in 1st grade, 40 miles north of Dealey Plaza. Oswald’s niece was in my class. His brother lived about 2 blocks away.

I was at my high school listening to the coverage of the JFK shooting. School was letting out twenty minutes early.
