For the first time since Alec Baldwin accidentally shot one crew member and injured another while filming for Rust, the armourer for the film has spoken out.
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins passed away on Thursday, October 21, as a result of the incident. The film’s director, Joel Souza was also injured.
Baldwin had not known the gun had live ammunition in it, however the 63-year-old has been subject to extreme online abuse in the wake of the incident.
The set’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, has now spoken out about the tragedy.
Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence, Gutierrez-Reed’s lawyers said safety was her ‘number one priority on set’ and that she wanted to take the opportunity to ‘address some untruths’, Metro reports.
They said:
Ultimately this set would never have been compromised if live ammo were not introduced. Hannah had no idea where the live rounds came from.
Hannah and the prop master gained control over the guns and she never witnesses anyone shoot live rounds with these guns and nor would she permit that. They were locked up every night and at lunch and there’s no way a single one of them was unaccounted for or being shot by crew members.

Read somewhere that the armorer removed the shell casing after the shoot and before LEO arrived.
Her lawyer should have told her to shut up and don’t talk to anyone, especially the media.
Actually, maybe he did and she’s an attention hound..
She’s just the fall guy, Baldwin knew what he was doing
That sounds like peacefully in her own bed, surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the age of 88.
How about "died" or "was killed"?
In general, union folks are way more competent than hires right off the street. The union folks have the experience, and some level of training.
All the union people had walked off the ‘Rust’ set earlier. So I’m thinking that this woman was a non-union person who simply declared herself to be an armorer.
I agree 100%.
Way to go Sherlock.
The armourer was asleep
at the switch.
Geeze...they put *that* in charge of the guns? Yikes!
Baldwin failed to perform a check on the gun. It falls on him....lock, stock and barrel. (Pretty good pun for early morning.)
“Court records revealed Baldwin was under the impression the gun was completely safe, prior to the accidental shooting.”
Above is one of the last lines in the article. Anyone (or should I say EVERYone) notice the obvious? Baldwin was under the impression the gun was completely “safe”. No such thing as a real gun being completely safe when it’s in the hands of a bunch of liberals with IQs barely above freezing.

Are her teeth pierced too?
Well, she just messed up the SO’s chance to know 100% who loaded the thing. Bravo!
Ok it was her lawyers statement.
So now the mystery is :
Who brought the live ammo on the set and why?
Armorer lawyer : “She knows nothing”….
Paging Sgt Schultz
She’s 24, a green stage hand unlikely to ever work on a movie set again, probably couldn’t pay someone to act as a spokesperson even if she wanted to, and probably just the act of retaining a lawyer will exhaust her finances.
Alec Baldwin is a millionaire many times over, probably has had assistants, fixers, connections and staffers to handle things like lawyers and statements and friendly media writeups for decades.
Which one do you think is going to look like a hot mess in the media?
What exactly did Baldwin do when he was handed the gun. Just put it in his holster...and followed "0" protocol?
And then ensure that every single Union member on the set or within five miles that day was printed for comparison purposes?
Not accusing. Just saying.
Her father was a well known armorer. She probably played Annie Oakley when she was two. Youth does not make you guilty. But experience....and Baldwin has plenty of that....does.
