Alec Baldwin "is canceling other projects" following an accidental shooting on the set of his film, Rust, that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and director Joel Souza injured.
A source tells PEOPLE that Baldwin, 63, is looking "to take some time to himself and re-center himself," as he has during difficult times in the past.
"This was pretty devastating," the source says. "This is how he handles difficult times. Whenever something bad happens, in the short term, he removes himself from [the] public eye."

He was a producer. So he’ll get sued for that. Not because of the accident that happened while he was on the set a the actor. It’s his fault as they producer that the accident happened on the set. It was a cheap movie production. Non union employees. Etc.

I despise Alec and would ordinarily savor the Schadenfreude, but I can think of more times than I care to admit when I did something very, very stupid and, but for the grace of God, things could have gone very, very wrong.

Baldwin ought to pay out LARGE amounts to both,and retire permanently from public life.. after publically admitting full personal responsibility.

That was pleasantly surprising for an old time rocker like me.
I sincerely hope it does, but like you I have doubts. If this doesn’t humble him, he is irredeemable. He is a very talented actor (Watch Glengarry Glen Ross for probably the best example) and when he used to host on TCM, he showed a knowledge of film history and cinema in general that was very impressive. He almost made me like him. If he hadn’t had so many ‘head up his butt’ moments to overcome, he probably would have.
I truly do hope this sets him on a different path.
They do seem to want it both ways.
