An incredible talent. To bad she was gone so soon.
You gotta love Janis Joplin to appreciate this. Didn’t she sing in a church choir? Thanks for posting.
such a talent.
Havent seen her in years.
She always was so old looking
she looks like a child now.
God rest her soul
Sorry but I could never stand her even when I was young. She didn’t sing, she screeched.
If she were still around, she'd probably look like Keith Richards.
I always thought these were her best:

One of my favorites...
I do not listen to much music or singing myself, never really have.
Still, I sense that you have missed something in her talent. I cannot explain it, but consider that she had the ability to push out powerful lyrics regarding the conflict between the appreciation of life and simultaneously the anguish of enduring it all.
I do not recall exactly when she died, but it was not long following this concert and that in my mind simply makes it all more genuine.
A great blues singer. She should be a poster child for drug abuse, a warning to young people of the terrible toll drugs take on a promising life.
Dude in the short-sleeved shirt and tie is great.
Just before my moms departure from this world( age 97!) she confessed “ I LOVED. Janis Joplin!! I was dumbstruck. But it wasn’t her screeching that captured her, it was the fact that girl had a tender heart.
Here’s another great song from that Era. I thought Joplin sang it as well but I couldn’t find a link for it:

Too bad Janis’ Letters Home is not online - heart wrenching letters to her mom.
In her early years she did not ‘screech’ - that was the result of too many cigarettes booze drugs and generally not taking care of herself.
She once said, “I make love to thousands of people while on stage and then go home alone” One can certainly see here what she meant by that.
I remember watching her being interviewed (by Johnny Carson, I think) and how she struck me as nice, and sweet and fragile, and endearingly a little dumb. The kind of girl that the world just chews up and spits out. I found myself wishing there were someone that could have protected her. She was a powerful singer, but like Marilyn Monroe, she was like a Candle in the Wind.
that is funny.
She was old looking for her age, and I was years younger. now. she looks like a misguided child with a ripping voice.
