If our military is being ordered to salute the person designated as VP in violation of norms, that is not good.

Maybe the 25th was invoked already, just not yet made public.

I’d give her the middle fingered salute.

Military should salute. Secret Service agents have been manning the stairs of AF2 lately for Harris. They do not salute.

Two nights ago, around 1 AM, the WH lights were blazing on (normally off at 11 PM for the night), with lots of black SUVs and suspected medical vehicles as well.

There’s a ton of pictures on the interwebs of military saluting Mike Pence.

Saluting the VP would be like saluting the Speaker of the House. Both people are in the presidential line of succession. But neither person is in the military chain of command. So no salutes for them.
But since we now live in a banana republic, I guess anything goes.

That’s news to me. Was it ever clarified just who was in trouble?
I have my hopes, I mean my assumptions.
To: Recovering_Democrat
As far as I know, it it not mandatory.
A military member may salute anyone.

God forbid you should actually investigate a matter before coming up with dumb conspiracy theories.

The 25th was/is not in play for Biden. He was only the 'designated' or official president, while in reality, there is a whole bunch of people running the presidency, and Biden is just there to read speeches and take a whole lot of coaching before he's ready to take a question or two from the pre-selected/friendly press questioner.
Biden has never been in charge, and that's been the case during the presidential campaign and for the last year. He is just a puppet on a string. Most Americans know it, but his handlers are afraid to make it public.

I seem to recall Eisenhower and other presidents up to Reagan never RETURNING a military salute. Eisenhower was a real general and understood and valued military protocol and, although he was the Commander in Chief, he was a civilian as proscribed by the Constitution. And civilians do not return a military salute.
I loved Reagan but he started a bad tradition.
