A woman marries a man when she trusts him and expects to have a lifelong relationship with him (and vice versa). If a woman has not reached a level of trust and commitment with a man to make him her husband, she should also not roam around the country with him. When a young woman is murdered, it is often because she is leaving a boyfriend. She is especially at risk if she is far away from family and friends.
What I have written would have been considered common sense 60 years ago but is now attached as judgmental or victim-blaming. Well, I will give my daughter the same advice, to which she can listen or not, as an adult.

And the most dangerous place for a YOUNG child is in the home of a live in boyfriend of their mothers.
Stupid always hurts eventually, even if sometimes in ways not always well recognized by persons acting stupidly.

But husbands never murder their spouses ever, right, because they are men and certainly not emotional.

Married women are very, very likely to suffer domestic violence from their husbands. Yet you think that women should be confined in a marriage where a husband can beat on her with zero consequence, right? Because husbands won't abuse their wives for the pettiest of reasons.

Maybe, but back in the ‘90s I worked with domestic abuse victims for about 6 months, and I think all were abused by spouses.
Correlation does not equal causation.
I don't doubt that married women are less likely to be murdered by their partners than women who are shacking up. I doubt it's got anything to do with marriage but rather that the type of people who live together instead of marrying tend to be more irresponsible and less stable types.
You could probably say the same thing about tattoos and drug use. Tattoos don't cause drug use, but the type of person that would cover themselves with tattoos tends to be the same type that are willing to pump their bodies full of street drugs. Not causative, but definitely correlated.
I have no doubt if Gabby and baldy tied the knot before their ill-fated road trip, the outcome would have been just as tragic.
The real lessons are:
Get out of an abusive relationship.
Be honest with yourself about who your partner is.
Realize you cannot change people.
An idyllic social media facade is not a substitute for happiness.
This is an old lie. The least abused group of women are married women. The most abused are shack ups.
Well, aren’t you so special! It is so easy to be old like us and condemn the young. I was that young once... and like a lot of us, we had a lot of learning to do and made mistakes. It was what the young have done for a long, long, long time. FWIW, married people kill each other all the time. ALL the TIME.

You called me a troll but put into my mouth assertions I never made. Of course wives should leave abusive husbands.
Being one for nostalgia, I picked one up a couple months ago. After a minute or two the conversation went south quickly. I’m glad he was only going a short distance. That won’t happen again.

Tragic and sad what happened to this young women but the national reaction is strange.
So, the “there is no evidence she is dead or he did it” crowd, is replaced by the “she wasn’t married”, crowd.
Sometimes, it is clear that losers come in all ideologies.
