A woman marries a man when she trusts him and expects to have a lifelong relationship with him (and vice versa). If a woman has not reached a level of trust and commitment with a man to make him her husband, she should also not roam around the country with him. When a young woman is murdered, it is often because she is leaving a boyfriend. She is especially at risk if she is far away from family and friends.
What I have written would have been considered common sense 60 years ago but is now attached as judgmental or victim-blaming. Well, I will give my daughter the same advice, to which she can listen or not, as an adult.

The lesbians murdered in the area were married, so I guess it’s kind of a crap-shoot.
The pictures I’ve seen seem to indicate that they were very enamored of each other.

Yep, the truth is uncomfortable for a lot of folks. Morality regarding marriage developed the way it did over thousands of years for good reasons. Some may consider it silly, old-fashioned prudery to think there’s anything the slightest bit wrong with a young woman shacking up on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend. But this young woman would have benefited from a bit of that sort of old-fashioned prudery from her family.
Unfortunately the risk is part of the thrill for many young women today....

My mom was saying something vary similar earlier today when we were talking about Miss Petito. She told me how she and her girl friends would look out fot each other, and would always double date for safety. This was back in the early 50s, before she met my dad. She’ll be 88 in a month.
A 911 call claimed Brian was slapping and hitting her.

Not husband? Sure. What about brother, cousin, long=-time childhood friend etc. My cousin went from BC, canada to California with his long-time girlfriend for more than 4 months. Got married eventually and still married after 15 years. Quit being a drama queen and squeezing this event for effect according to your liking.

Young woman today appear to be in short supply when it comes to that even in dating let alone traveling. Now especially with all the 3rd worlders coming in you can’t be too careful as I see it....you’re a target they’re prowling about looking for.
