Ah, so now you want to place limits on what you consider to be an epidemic. Obesity is considered by most to be an epidemic, and it is considered by most to be a disease.
I don't think the term "epidemic" has ever been defined as "whatever frightens people the most".
Obesity is a much greater threat to health than Covid, but no politician could survive an election if he was a genuine risk of being able to get legislation passed which eliminated highly processed foods. The agriculture and processed food industries have as much political clout as Big Pharma does.

My county of 24,000 has had 43 deaths “attributed to COVID” since COVID got here 1 1/2 years ago. I-44 runs right through the county and St Louis, our State’s hot COVID spot is 70 miles up the Interstate. Thousand of people come here from St Louis every weekend for recreation. They shop here, eat at restaurants here, mask free.
Kids went back to school last fall, no masks, no distancing. Walmart gave up on masks and arrows on the floor because we wouldn’t have it. People talk to each other maskless and shake hands like we always have and we’ve been doing that since late last Spring.
2019/2020, 200000+ cases of the flu in the US.
2020/2021 2,038 cases of the flu in the US.
Most of the people dying from COVID would have had a pretty shot at dying from the flu. 80+ with 2-3 comorbidities. The jab and/or seems to have changed that demographic a little.
My wife knows of 1 or 2 at the nursing home she works at. She said they were expected to die soon, regardless. It was just close to their time.
It seems we have a pandemic of lying ass leftists in the cities, like St Louis, pumping up the numbers. We have a pandemic of communism.
I have a feeling it’s not just lying in the leftist cities. I can imagine this phrase being uttered. “No treatment, just put his white country ass on a ventilator”.

Here’s a fact for you then.
It is against my moral conscience to perform an action (take a vaccine in this case) under coercion by means of threats to livelihood or threats to my civil rights.
It is simply not on the table as long as they are threatening people. That is not a medical decision. That is a moral decision.
I will reevaluate the vaccine when the following conditions are met:
1. No threats have been made by any political leader, business leader, or any other influential person for at least 5 years or two different presidential administrations, whichever is longer.
2. An honest study (that means the CDC is not involved) of the 5+ year long term side effects of the mRNA vaccine is performed and published.
3. People (I was about to say liberals, then remembered how many vaccine fascists we have on the right) stop accusing me of murder for not bowing down to their commands and threats to get vaccinated for at least 4 years consistently.
After those conditions are met, I will evaluate whether or not to take the vaccine. Until then it’s off the table, and I will not comply with threat of any kind.

By what standard?
The PCR test that was and still is used to diagnose all the Covide cases has now been shown by even the CDC to be invalid.
Government may know something about the long-term effects of COVID that they are not telling us.
The vaccines may ward off some of the long-term damage in ways that natural recovery and immunity does not.
But even if those two rather dubious propositions are true, admitting to them would be tantamount to admitting that the virus was a designed bioweapon released by China. And Joe Biden absolutely cannot afford to cross China in any way, for any reason.
So this game of "Shut up and eat your peas!" with no explanations provided will continue indefinitely.
