Babbitt crossed a line that had been clearly delineated. The police obviously felt it was a last stand. The potential danger was obvious. Babbitt’s shooting appears to have stopped the forward movement of the crowd. All this happened on a day when the vice president’s life had been threatened, and when police were being savagely beaten elsewhere in the building.
Could the mob possibly have been stopped without Babbitt’s death? Maybe. Perhaps there was a way to have avoided deadly force. But it’s not clear to me what that way would have been — and it is clear that if Babbitt had gone through that doorway, an out-of-control situation would have deteriorated further.

The man down the hall had a clear, straight shot. Schumer was suupsedly in the hall just 10 seconds prior, too. Sullivan was not in view but was perfectly positioned to record the shooting. Blue hoodie guy who was likely antifa said on tape that someone pulled him back/warned him off from being first to crawl through.
I only saw one person turn and run after the shooting. Others remained. I didn’t see anyone administer first aid at first.
Perceived conservatives and Christians are obvious dangers to anyone around them and are eligible to be shot on sight.
Are you daft? There was a riot going on; and, that window had been smashed and then she went through. It was perceived as a danger to the senators who had been taken to that room for safety. The guard acted appropriately.
So, when BLM and Antifa violently decided to ‘occupy’ building - they can be shot? WOW that’s great if it’s the same... IF IF IF...
If the standard is the same for both sides it’s a win.
We would have lost one person in the last 3 years - the commie thugs would have lost a few thousand. It would really be OK to shoot them? Bloodbath time -right? Or do YOU have a bunch of reasons why assassinating a protester ONLY matters when the protester is a conservative?

My take is it’s wrong to ‘occupy’ a government building - FOR BOTH SIDES.
I support protest but not violent breaking into buildings ‘protest’... we agree on that. And hopefully next time Antifa and BLM riot we can have cops shoot them at point blank range - you agree, right?
If they break into a government building, I surely do agree. If BLM/Antfa start shooting in the streets, they should put down. Should they destroy property or attack other people, they should be arrested and tried.
Nothing would please me more that having BLM/Antifa thugs dealt with quickly and harshly.
By ignoring the BLM/Antifa thug, the various government entities are pushing us to a shooting civil war. That won't be good. It might one day become necessary, but it wouldn't be good.

Nope - I’m ONLY talking about ‘the right’ of a cop to shoot an unarmed protester who is violently going into a building that’s not theirs.
I believe in the law - I believe in the law being applied the equally - color blind, issue blind, ideologically blind.
So if it’s OK to shoot an unarmed conservative women attempting to ‘occupy a building’ then it’s OK to shoot an unarmed liberal woman attempting to ‘occupy a building’.
As long as it’s the police doing the shooting.
I never believe in people taking the law into their own hands. But ‘equal before the law’ - held the same standard? Hell yes.

Under the laws passed by Congress, the Capitol Police is not required to release any of that information.
He's a police officer and enjoys limited immunity. He can't be sued.
I'm an old fart who had no charisma even when young. We desperately need some leadership who can orchestrate an aggressive push-back.
I used to think the same thing. Then some kindly Freepers directed me to some telling videos of the actual event. Ashley Babbit was not crawling through the window when she was shot. It is also obvious that she was setup by someone who melted from the front of the crowd and changed his clothes. The shooting was, most likely, a preplanned and coordinated event.
