Disturbing new surveillance video shows the moment a 51-year-old man was brutally attacked by a hatchet-wielding maniac while at a Lower Manhattan ATM.
The footage, obtained by The Post on Tuesday, shows the victim at one of the ATMs inside a Chase Bank vestibule on Broadway near Beaver Street in the Financial District shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday when his attacker walks in, removes a hatchet from a dark bag, sneaks up behind him and begins slashing him.
The frightened and bloodied victim tries to fend off the brutal assault, falling to the floor several times as he futilely attempts to grab his crazed assailant’s weapon, the footage shows.
When the unidentified suspect is finished beating his victim, he smashes the screens of the cash-dispensing machines before walking away — and leaving the hatchet and his backpack behind, according to police.

Oh man. The solution is right in front of us. It’s vigilantism. Cops not doing their job. I would allow myself to be a victim just once. Then it’s Bernie Goetz time.
I’ve worked in Lower Manhattan on and off throughout my career, most recently in 2019 and am in Jersey City now. Always felt safe there and left work, many a late night. Never an issue. My wife and I went to dinner a few weeks ago in Little Italy. We were so uncomfortable on Canal Street, that we Ubered back to Penn rather than the subway which we would have always taken. The city is a mess now, back to pre-Giuliani days. Cops are non-existent, no NYPD, no Port Authority police. This is what happens when civil society begins to break down and government institutions side with the lawless over the lawful.

Coming to a city near you by the tens of thousands! I hate our freaking government!! We will be seeing similar acts by those Taliban infiltrators disguised as interpreters or that helped our military in Afghanistan.. Rapes and murder by these barbaric Muslims brought to our soil by our government... He will have major problems just like in the UK who have problems with Afghanistan Muslim immigrants. They are said to be the most ruthless barbaric people.
How many here wouldn’t mind having that kind of defensive opportunity?
