As a side note, I’m not particularly happy to hear this news. I’d rather see profits from US car sales stay in the US. But there is no denying that Toyota genuinely cares about quality. GM, not so much.
GM was stolen from the bondholders when they went bankrupt. When you buy a car from GM, you are effectively buying a stolen car.
Will never buy a government motors made vehicle.
Since Obama took the company from its owners, I couldn’t care less. It’s a communist company.
The biggest employer in this part of Kentucky is the Toyota factory, between Georgetown and Cynthiana.
Toyota’s last forever. My parents only got them and my siblings have continued.
i swore id never buy a japanese car....until i bought a mint Toyota Supra in the mid 1990’s....easily the best car i ever owned. I used to work on the car even if it didnt really need any work...couldnt believe how easily everything was to reach and went back together. I kept “grinding the starter” the first few weeks i had it...the motor was so quiet. I got so many compliments on that car....
GM stuff is mostly made in Mexico and Canada. Toyota has plants in the USA.
Every time I see an older Toyota 4x4 pickup going down the road, I want one. I had a coupe of 2wd models. Good little trucks if you can keep them from rusting in half.
GM and Ford seem to think that the only market is for SUVs and trucks. If you want a sedan, you have to go with the Japanese, Koreans, or Europeans.
I have had 3 Toyota pick ups in the last 40 years never did anything to them except tires brakes oil one clutch couple starters and batteries and rarely a bad bulb
About 12 years ago I bought my last Toyota.
Toyota will now do without my money.
1. Toyota builds many of its vehicles right here in the U.S. They are probably more "American" than GM right now.
2. Toyota is a publicly traded company. The profits go wherever the shareholders are -- including right here in the U.S. In one of the great ironies of this modern global economy, a UAW worker employed by General Motors is far better off with Toyota stock than GM stock in his pension fund.
Had a 2010 Rav 4 Limited for 7 years, had 1 recall.
Have a 2017 Rav 4, not a single recall.
Try that GM
Driving a Lexus suv since 2009, almost 200k now.
Never a problem. Runs like a top.
Thinking about going for 300k.
I once had a lot of sympathy and good will for GM. I don’t anymore.
Another corporation that has to make their politics known.
General Motors has been a national embarrassment for decades now.
Reading the comments.
How quickly everyone forgets. That is what makes me think all this chatting is worthless. Just a week or so ago Toyota announce that it would withhold donations to any congress people who suggested election fraud. Not one mention of that here.
But you little stand for nothings just keep buying your Toyota’s.
Since when was GM even the top?
