“ A lot of city people are clueless about big water.“

———————————————————

You got that right.

Numerous drownings in a Detroit High School pool over the years.

One or two as I recall over years in the Suburbs………..

Either number seems like a lot. On a holiday (or any) weekend, I suspect alcohol involvement.

Yeah, our brothers and sisters in the UTS (Underwater Termination Squad) had a good weekend.
The padded ankle straps really do help keep questions from being asked.

I have noticed that people who can’t swim or never did much swimming always seem to think it’ll come to them.

"How hard can it be? I don't see anyone drowning!"

Glub, glub, glub.

Large bodies of water will try to kill you.

Global warming is so severe now, it’s literally boiling swimmers to death.

Deadly dihydrogen monoxide strikes again. It’s everwhere. Well except out here in the west.

Cold water temps add to draining a person’s energy quickly. It just saps the strength out of you. I’d guess the Great Lakes water temps are in the upper 50’s this time of year?

Are these only American drownings? A very large portion of the lakes are in Canada. Canadian drownings matter!

If we all wore life jackets whenever we go outside we could reduce drownings significantly.

^ This. Combined with the usual stupidity and alcohol.

here on Lake Ontario, fights usually break out and cops are everywhere. These are the folks from Rochester...once a great city....now I roll up my windows when driving through...hoping it will deflect a bullet. A Dem stronghold...and Mayor not so Lovely and her drug dealing husband run the city.

She lost the primary....thank goodness.

Yes.
At first I thought they were only Michigan drownings. But I checked.

Here’s a great way to learn to swim.

Find some water that’s chin height. Hold your breath and jump in, trying not to touch bottom.

Wamo ! you’re swimming !

Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man’s dreams
The islands and bays are for sportsmen
And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered

This many people die routinely on the lakes on the 4th? This blows my mind.
