Inflation: Refrigerator prices up - TV prices down - Beef up. What do you see?
PRICES--Seen in a local July 4th sales circular from a large appliance store | June 28 2021 | Me

Posted on 06/28/2021 11:46:57 AM PDT by dennisw

Air-conditioned prices up from last summer All large appliances up. Washing machines, driers, dishwashers, refrigerators etc. Microwave ovens stable or up

Food prices? What do you see? Forget chicken wings, buy drumsticks to substitute. Drumstick prices are not up very much.

Beef up 50% from last year. My favorite cuts at least. Though grass fed hamburger at Aldis is down 50 cents per pound. Watermelon prices same as last year.

What inflation or deflation do you see in anything? Some that might get you angry,

Natural gas is $3.63 per ccf is literally over twice as much as it was this time last year ($1.71). Up 112%.

This impacts both your gas bill and your electricity bill.

The Feds have been expanding the money supply at 38% a year. The market catch’s up sooner or later.

We should go back the the massive economic collapse NOW. It was all so much better a year ago!

Everything is up. Expectations are down.

I was just fixing my toaster — a 70 year old Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster. I could not afford to buy one of these today. My parents bought one. I make more than my parents ever did, according to the government, the lying bastard government. The toaster is okay, it just needed a thorough cleaning.

Convenience store/Drug Store candy cars up 10-50 cents for a regular size (Was $1.19, now $1.39-$1.59 @ CVS/Circle K/Walgreens/QT etc.).

Aldi is starting to raise prices - cream, beef, milk & eggs come to mind.

Shortages are a big problems. The luggage section of Wal-Mart was almost empty yesterday. Sewing machines have long been scarce. Plants are in short supply.

Businesses are not going to spend big money to expand to meet temporary demand created by unsustainable government spending.

Whatever the price, avoid Chinese. Honda outboards are now being made in China.

Beef is up- when you can get it...

I’ve hardly found ribs anywhere here in the supermarkets and when i do they suck and are usually twice as expensive per pound compared to a year ago.

Price of fruit is also up. Blueberries here are up 25%.

$133.99 on ebay is the lowest price for a functional one. --- About 7 are listed as for repair and parts only. Priced much less. I see there is a website devoted to them

Tires, if you can find them. Uniroyals unavailable nation wide, had to settle for Coopers.

Plants are in short supply.

You want to buy and plant a grafted fruit tree? Prices are double from last year. I know because I bought one two months ago at a nursery.

The general rule, and the problem with our economy for the last thirty years, is that things made in The USA (food, cars, housing) get more expensive while things made in China get less expensive (clothing, electronics, toys).

This past weekend I was looking to rig up a filter for the latest round of the Samsung washing machine battle.

I found what looked like a good inline kit and pretty cheap.

The bummer is none of the local big box stores had the nipple/union to connect so that’s on order.

Last week, Samsung did some more warranty repairs. Same problem. Brown particles eventually forming in the tub. No matter how many self cleaning cycles are ran, they form. I think they are few and not worth complaining about. The spouse is almost Adrian Monk when it comes to washing clothes sees it differently.

The parts changed this time were like the parts changed the time before.

I’m trying the filter idea out of frustration.

It could be a quirk in the plumbing. I never claimed to be a plumber. No other unusual stuff at the other taps. I’m picky about my clear stuff.

If the filter fails, mrs. Monk might have to deal with a commercial service or take a chance on a working used machine a relative has that I will get to move by myself. I have zero help to do anything.
