A US biotech startup has created genetically modified trees that can absorb more carbon dioxide, which could make afforestation initiatives more effective. reach Fast Company Magazine.
live carbon modified growth enzyme, causing faster growth of trees, which can absorb and store more carbon dioxide than common trees. In addition, the company is slowing down the rate of tree decay by enabling uptakeها copper and nickel, which act as fungicides. The fungus speeds up its decomposition, but with this modification, the tree will take time to decompose and the carbon will remain inside it longer.
Trees that do not produce seeds?
On the other hand, living carbon indicates that there is not enough space on the planet Planting trees needed to offset greenhouse gas emissions. So in theory, making each tree becomes more efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide Attractive proposal.
However, these trees are like others genetically modified plants They may not obtain permission from the relevant authorities for their large-scale cultivation. Although its creators assert that the type of tree they are working with now, a A hybrid of two types of poplarsIt can only reproduce through cuttings, and does not produce seeds that can be scattered elsewhere, one of the issues activists have raised.

Oh, swell. Because nothing bad happens when you mess with the regular flow of nature.
There is not enough space on the planet Planting trees needed to offset greenhouse gas emissions
so stop wasting space putting up those useless wind turbines .LOL This planet IS CARBON
The Day of the Triffids coming to a town near you.
I have a copy of an old Newsweek (I think) article from 1970’s about the coming global cooling crisis. In that article they were quoting scientists who were recommending dusting the ice caps with coal dust to make them darker and thus affect the climate. That was equally nuts.
what next, tree zombies?
triffids?
lol
Sounds great. Except there has been no discernible greenhouse effect. But other than that, yeah, absolutely.
All the weirdos will want one in their yard and the roots will probably knock down their house
A hybrid of two types of poplars
you can buy them here...............................
It was a given that this would be done. Look for other ways to harness the Calvin cycle, either organically or synthetically.
The bigger question is “What should ideal atmospheric CO2 levels be?”.
A solution without a problem.
So they plant a super species that absorb AND store carbon.
What happens when they die or are burned?
These MOFOs are so dam dumb it is beyond...
Just recycling carbon because you can’t get rid of it ,LOL
“It’s not nice to fool with Mother Nature.”
Absolutely wrong.
Show me your science dum bass.
The amount of carbon consumed by a rich, uninhibited growth of green plants would certainly do it.
Therefore, I recommend turning NYC, the Hamptons, Boston, Martha's Vineyard, Philadelphia, Wash DC, Berkeley, the Los Angeles basin, San Francisco and the bay, San Jose, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Austin and Houston into immediate forest.
Throw the People's Republic of China, Western Europe, Ontario and Hawaii in there too.
Do it for Gaia!
And by dum bass, I meant Leo. Not you, RWV.
I had a very rewarding week
Took out 2 acres of trees, piled them up in a dozen 2 story house sized piles and lit them up with a propane torch
While working in the footprint of 145 spinning Monuments to Gaia
Quite soothing to see 50 foot flames just 500 feet away from the closest one
Great. Now we know what will cause the next ice age.
I remember reading about dusting the ice caps with coal dust to stop THE COMING ICE AGE!
Then there is this!

Changing the weather intentionally or otherwise weather modification..(Earth cooling vs Greenhouse effect)
“Do you suppose we can learn enough, soon enough, to pull off a balancing act with the CO2 blanket saving us from another ice age?”
