The Oregon legislature passed SB 744 to get rid of math, reading, and proficiency standards for high schools so we can be more “equitable.”

Prohibits State Board of Education from requiring for high school diploma that student show proficiency in any academic content area if student successfully completed credit requirements. Applies to high school diplomas awarded on or after July 1, 2023.] Declares emergency, effective on passage.

In the 5th grade. My daughter was in the gifted and talented group. One needed a 93% and up grade average.

On day, a black community organizer showed up and threw a fit that there weren’t many minorities. Filed lawsuit.

School changed standards based on race...whites needed a 97%, black/Hispanic, an 87% to get in. My daughter got kicked out: she was extremely distraught and crying over this.

Pulled her out for homeschooling.

For whatever reason I’m watching a lot of videos and reading about events leading up to WWI.

Cant help but drawing comparisons to Austria Hungary of 1914.

Aging empire in decline - check.
Huge internal ethnic tensions - check.

Big difference is the degree to which we are doing this to ourselves. I don’t see the Austro Hungarians as being so eager to destroy themselves.
